Job Summary The Invasive Cardiac Tech supports all invasive cardiology and electrophysiology procedures within the Cardiac Cath Lab. This role assists with monitoring, circulating, scrubbing, device preparation, and hemodynamic interpretation while ensuring safe, efficient procedural care for patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures.
Key Responsibilities Procedural Duties
Scrub, circulate, and monitor during cardiac cath and EP procedures.
Assist with diagnostic and interventional cases including:
STEMI/NSTEMI interventions
Angioplasty & angiography
Right & left heart catheterizations
Thrombectomies
ASD/PFO closures
EP procedures: pacemakers, generator changes, loop recorders, ICD lead revisions, cardioversions
Prepare and manage equipment such as catheters, guidewires, sheaths, contrast injectors, and monitoring systems.
Maintain sterile field and follow strict infection control protocols.
Document hemodynamic data, procedural steps, and device usage accurately.
Clinical Support
Assist cardiologists during placement of IABP (preferred skill).
Perform sheath pulls and post-procedure site care.
Monitor continuous EKG, vital signs, and hemodynamic pressures.
Respond quickly to emergent situations including STEMI activations and acute complications.
Coordinate with RNs, techs, cardiologists, EP physicians, and anesthesia for workflow efficiency.
Operational Responsibilities
Prep procedure rooms, ensure equipment readiness, and handle room turnover.
Maintain supply inventory, restock, and ensure all cath/EP devices are tracked.
Support coverage in the Hybrid Cath/EP Lab as needed.
Participate in orientation, safety rounds, and quality improvement initiatives.
On-Call Requirements
Must live within
30 minutes
of the facility.
Call:
1–3 nights/week (Mon–Fri 1600–0730).
Weekend Call:
One weekend per 4-week schedule (Fri 1700–Mon 0700).
Holiday Call:
1–2 holidays per contract (call team only).
Floating
May float to EP (if experienced).
May float to sit or HUC roles if needed (rare).
Minimum Requirements
Certifications:
CVT (required)
BLS & ACLS (required)
RCIS (preferred)
RTR with Cath Lab experience (preferred)
Experience:
3–5 years Cath Lab experience
First-time travelers accepted only with 5+ years Cath experience in a 200+ bed facility
Strong Cath experience required; EP preferred
Skills:
Monitor, pan, scrub, sheath pull
Hemodynamic interpretation
Knowledge of complex interventional cases
Preferred: IABP, EP workflows, atherectomy systems
