The Job The Senior Accountant is responsible for month-end financial close duties including bank account and balance sheet account reconciliations, general ledger analysis, fixed assets, prepaid expense amortization, and departmental budget versus actual variance analysis.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
Analyze and reconcile complex bank accounts and investigate outstanding items to ensure timely adjustments
Analyze liability, asset, and capital accounts by compiling electronic data and required documentation
Prepare and distribute the daily cash balance report to Finance leadership
Assist in the preparation of budget and special reports
Perform monthly/year-to-date budget vs. actual analysis for assigned departments - acting as liaison between departmental owners and the finance department
Maintain fixed assets schedule, posting monthly depreciation and reconciling balances in a fixed asset module to balance sheet accounts
Reconcile and maintain Internal Use Capitalized Software schedule and journal entry posting
Maintain prepaid expense amortization schedules and reconciliations
Prepare and post journal entries and accruals as needed
Serve as backup for Christian Care Ministry’s Manna program
Serve as backup for provider refunds; assisting with provider checks, refund issues, and stop payments
Identify areas of improvement within the Finance department and provide possible solutions
Assist with audit preparation
Contribute to the exercise and expression of Christian Care Ministry’s Christian beliefs
All other duties as assigned
Essential Skills & Abilities
Strong Excel and computer skills: ability to access, maintain, and effectively manage data in an RFP system. Ability to download large amounts of data and perform pivot table analysis in Excel. Identify and resolve issues in a timely manner
Ability to respond promptly to department needs and meeting commitments

Education And/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field with prior accounting experience in a corporate environment required; preferably in a financial services or healthcare payer industry
2+ years’ of experience as a Senior Accountant (Preferred)
Experience with Consolidated Financial Statements (Preferred)
