Job Description The Training and Education Coordinator I is responsible for supporting the development, coordination, and delivery of training programs and educational activities. This position involves assisting in the planning and implementation of training initiatives, coordinating logistical arrangements, and providing administrative support to ensure the smooth functioning of training activities. The Training and Education Coordinator I plays a vital role in promoting continuous learning, skill development, and organizational effectiveness.

Essential Functions

Research, coordinate and develop materials for use in training staff and educating clients on procedures, rules, regulations, forms, requirements and equipment for area of assignment.

Assist management in identifying training needs for staff and education for clients.

Collect, compile, prepare, update and assemble training and presentation materials and manuals.

Design new training and education materials and/or update materials regularly.

Conduct initial training/orientation for newly hired staff to increase understanding of procedures and position responsibilities.

Deliver training to classes and individuals through lectures, demonstrations, exercises and workshops.

Conduct continuing education to comply with changes in federal, state and local regulations, policies and procedures, and to resolve specific performance deficiencies.

Coordinate and investigate compliance with federal, state and/or local policies, laws and regulations and conduct quality control audits and report findings.

Participate in the review of productivity levels for activities and staff, analyze problem areas, identify training needs and recommend solutions to management.

Assess implementation of policies and/or procedures and make recommendations to management regarding changes and/or supplemental training.

Provide additional training as needed, under management direction.

Serve as the technical advisor for interpreting federal, state, and County policies, laws, rules and/or regulations governing area of assignment.

Compile statistical data and prepare reports for area of assignment for presentation to management and the Board of Supervisors.

Develop and evaluate student surveys/assessments on training/education provided.

Coordinate and maintain training/education materials, audio‑visual equipment, laptops, tablets and supplies utilized for training and education.

Maintain manual and computer‑based documentation on training and/or education conducted, competency checklists and assessment files.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in education, business, public administration, government, political science or a field applicable to the department’s operations as identified by the department head at the time of recruitment AND one year of professional experience conducting staff/client training and education. (Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.)

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum two (2) years experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Teams, PowerPoint, and Planner. (Office365 preferred).

Minimum two (2) years experience, in the last five (5) years, delivering election related training programs or similar statutorily required processes.

Minimum one (1) year experience designing and implementing training programs specifically geared toward adult learners outside of an educational institution.

Minimum one (1) year experience working with e-learning development software programs.

Minimum two (2) years experience training adult learners in complicated or technical subjects outside of an educational institution.

Selection Procedure Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum qualifications. All applications will be assessed based on an evaluation of the listed education and experience. Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications may be further evaluated/scored against any advertised Preferred Qualifications. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a referral list provided by Human Resources. Additional assessments/testing may be required as part of the selection process.

Supplemental Information Licenses and Certificates: Valid driver license is required at time of application. Valid AZ driver license is required at time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicant’s suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures. Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination. Any offer of employment resulting from this recruitment is contingent upon Fleet Services’ review and approval of the candidate’s driving record.

Special Notice Items: The County requires pre-employment background checks. Successful candidates will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history, education, and criminal conviction history. A prior criminal conviction will not automatically disqualify a candidate from employment with the County. Some positions may require completion of a satisfactory personal background investigation by the court or law enforcement agencies, due to the need for access to County Attorney and Court facilities, records, and communication systems.
