How you will contribute The HR Generalist supports day‑to‑day administration of policies and programs covering recruiting, compensation and benefits, training, employee relations, safety, and team member support. This role reports to the HR Manager.
Responsibilities
Audit daily time and attendance, lead bi‑weekly payroll activities for hourly and non‑exempt employee groups.
Provide employee support, mitigate concerns, and foster a positive employee environment according to company philosophy, values, policies, and applicable laws and regulations.
Responsible for internal and external recruitment, including job bids, staffing needs, outreach, application screening, interviews, selection, reference and background checks, job offers, and new‑hire onboarding.
Provide health insurance enrollment and benefit change support.
Act as a resource for managers, supervisors, and employees on policies, collective bargaining agreement language, employment law, procedures, and practices related to HR & benefits. Ensure maintenance of applicable plant policies and related HR documents (e.g., job descriptions, work rules).
Provide proactive employee relations support with confidence and positivity.
Record new or revised pay rates in HRIS or time‑keeping systems. Enter new employee information in HRIS.
Coordinate and support leave‑of‑absence activities.
Process monthly union reports and payments.
Track employee metrics and enter data.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent professional experience in HR, or 5 years of progressive HR experience.
SHRM PHR certification preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems; experience with Workday and Kronos preferred.
Business maturity and integrity, especially when handling highly confidential information.
Ability to influence others with a credible point of view.
Collaborative skills across all departments and management levels.
Understanding of Saputo’s business and ability to add value.
Ability to deliver high‑quality consistent HR processes and services.
Alignment of programs and services with the company’s overall vision.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organization, prioritization, and attention to detail.
Adaptability to changing organizational and operational needs; ability to lead people through change.
