Brief Job Description
Contribute to the mission of the Niagara Frontier Catholic Community to make disciples through the coordination of the development, organization, and oversight of the Youth Ministry and Young Adult program as an outreach of Faith Formation.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Work with pastor and pastoral staff to implement the mission of Niagara Frontier Catholic Community, together with other parish departments, committees, and organizations.
Foster and empower the development of the domestic church.
Plan and develop content for each formation year and initiate, organize, and implement programs to meet the religious education needs of the children and young adults, as well as outreach and empowerment to their families, in cooperation with the Director of Faith Formation and the Faith Formation Team.
Plan and implement parish events, activities, additional formational opportunities for children, teens, young adults and their families.
Recruit, train, and support volunteers for lessons and activities, including new technologies (e.g., Zoom) to offer content remotely when/if necessary.
Manage Youth Ministry budget, fundraising, expenses, files, and records; acquire supplies and maintain storage of supplies with support of department staff, in collaboration with the Director of Faith Formation.
Monitor Flocknote (email, text), Gmail account, and other communication methods for correspondence for Youth and Young Adult programming; create and manage online sign-ups; post program content online.
Foster evangelization efforts through outreach and invitation.
Network with outside organizations to leverage marketing and procurement of resources.
Attend relevant staff, school, and parish meetings.
Attend district and area youth ministry conferences and workshops.
Supervise, coordinate, and evaluate department staff and volunteers.
Maintain professional training and development (e.g., attend Diocesan Sponsored Workshops, VIRTUS Training).
Other Duties (Daily/Weekly/Monthly)
Check and respond to emails and other correspondence; make and return phone calls.
Review materials that could enrich programs, staying current with new ideas and sharing ideas with team members.
Access and update Parish Data System (PDS).
Discuss/review/implement current needs of Faith Formation team and support staff.
Monitor/oversee all programs being offered and assist when needed.
Continue development and integration of own Catholic faith.
Christ-like presence and accompaniment to the people we serve.
Qualifications
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree with background in Education/Theology/Faith Formation/Catechesis/Religious Education or related field preferred.
Relevant parish experience in a medium to large sized parish.
Energetic and passionate about youth.
Capabilities in theology, program coordination, communication and relationship-building, and administration.
Appreciation of the 21st Century Church and challenges to catechesis including family life, technology, cultural realities, and the new evangelization.
Proficient in social media and computer skills including Microsoft Office.
Participating member of a Roman Catholic faith community.
Salary $16.00 per hour
