System Engineer
– MTSI
Overview MTSI is seeking a motivated and proactive journeyman systems engineer with a strong understanding of modern digital engineering approaches and tools. The role requires independent critical thinking, technical expertise, and guidance in the design, development, integration, testing, and evaluation of complex systems. The incumbent will stay current with the latest technologies, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements, representing projects as a technical advisor to ensure systems meet performance, reliability, and safety standards.
Key Qualifications
3+ years of systems engineering experience on complex systems; 2 years using modern digital engineering tools and processes.
In‑depth knowledge of system‑of‑systems and design principles, architectures, and standards.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present technical information effectively.
Can work independently and as part of a team; manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
Strong attention to detail; knowledge of relevant military standards and specifications.
Responsibilities
Serve as the technical representative for systems engineering methodologies, tools, and processes.
Lead and/or participate in the design, development, and integration of systems, subsystems, and components from concept through production and sustainment.
Conduct detailed analysis and modeling of systems, including performance, effectiveness, and vulnerability assessments.
Develop and maintain system specifications, technical documentation, and engineering drawings.
Develop and execute test plans and procedures; analyze test data and recommend corrective actions.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems related to systems.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers and team members.
Stay abreast of advancements in technologies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Prepare and present technical reports, presentations, and briefings to internal and external stakeholders.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including program management, manufacturing, and quality assurance.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
Desired Skills
Experience with Power BI or other data visualization tools, Python scripting.
Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
Clearance Requirements
Must possess an active DoD Top Secret Clearance with SCI and SAP eligibility.
U.S. Citizenship is required.
