About the Job The Athletic Eligibility Coordinator is responsible for all student‑athlete certification based out of the Registrar's Office. Although primarily responsible for athletic certification, this position will also assist with Veteran certification and the review of students California residency determinations. Responsible for maintaining knowledge of and compliance with NCAA, conference, and athletic department rules and regulations related to student‑athlete eligibility within the scope of assigned duties.

Key Responsibilities

Evaluate, certify, monitor, and document student athletes' academic eligibility for sports participation. Analyze prior college transcripts for new transfer student‑athletes to determine when athletes are eligible to participate. Reconcile and verify data for all eligibility certificates. Assure security of all student records. Must be familiar with, comply with, and be evaluated on, NCAA, conference, athletic department rules and regulations related to student‑athlete eligibility as it relates to your job function.

Evaluate, certify, monitor, and document student California residency for tuition purposes. Evaluate, certify, monitor, and document student Veteran status for certification to VA.

Provides routine guidance and information to students (current, prospective, and former), parents, faculty, and / or staff regarding enrollment, registration, grading, degree and student record policies, procedures, and regulations.

Analyzes routine student inquiries, determines relevant issues, and implements or recommends solutions.

Identifies opportunities for improved internal practices and procedures.

Qualifications

Education and Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

1 year of related experience.

Experience in Higher Education work environment (Preferred)

Ability to apply thorough knowledge of policies to a variety of individual situations. Recommends procedures to ensure compliance in a diverse learning community.

Knowledge of specialized registrar core functions (e.g., degree requirements, special enrollment, veterans' benefits, and residency). (Preferred)

Thorough knowledge of University policies, processes, and procedures and of Federal and California laws pertaining to the privacy rights of students and access to student information. (Preferred)
