Overview Apogee has an exciting new opportunity for a
Lead Systems Engineer
located at
MacDill Air Force Base (AFB), FL
in support of Special Operations Forces Acquisition, Technology and Logistics’ (SOF AT&L) Program Executive Office for Tactical Information Systems (PEO-TIS) Remote Capabilities (Small Unmanned Systems Program). PEO-TIS is composed of a team of relentless acquisition professionals who consistently team with government and industry partners to rapidly develop and field state-of-the-art sensors, C2, and specialized communication systems that enable the Nation’s SOF Warfighters to win. This is a full-time position located at MacDill AFB, FL.
Responsibilities
Plans, executes, and documents design, development, and production efforts on behalf of government counterparts, using performance indicators identified in applicable engineering surveillance processes
Provides multidisciplinary engineering work to determine the technical needs in the acquisition, development, and sustainment of systems
Applies a number of diverse engineering practices, techniques, and processes to resolve difficult issues consistent with program objectives
Interprets engineering requirements into design characteristics and criteria
Plans, analyzes, and evaluates engineering and technical efforts to define requirements, translate into design criteria, assess alternative design approaches, and develop system specifications
Determines the means to advance projects and evaluate significant modifications to production methods or materials due to changes in requirements, technological advances, or shortcomings
Develops evaluations and technical justifications of feasibility; analyzes and studies performance requirements against a range of diverse considerations
Evaluates technology, components, and systems by developing evaluation criteria, performing evaluations, and documenting results
Works with organizational managers, budget personnel, and engineering authorities to develop technical solutions in support of SOF operational requirements
Conducts requirements analysis and decomposition; translates military operational requirements into technical specifications with further decomposition into sub-systems, components, and system characteristics along with associated Measures of Performance (MOP)
Supports development and staffing of various technical documents in support of Fielding & Deployment Release (F&DR) and Operational Test & Evaluation (OT&E)
Supports government counterparts regarding the adequacy and clarity of engineering and analysis processes based on daily application of the processes and agency reporting requirements
Evaluates and recommend technical solutions to address SOF operational requirements utilizing a professional knowledge of multi-discipline engineering
Applies advanced tools to document and analyze the results of critical, complex activities and tasks
Assists in the development of Statements of Work/Statements of Objectives (SOW/SOO)
Conducts advanced engineering tasks such as reviewing engineering change proposals, reviewing requests for waivers and deviations, conducting technical analysis to assess performance, and presenting results and recommendations based on analysis
Provides expert technical level inputs for status briefings to leadership, outlining assigned programs, projects, problems, and recommended resolution
Supports requirements management and traceability of requirements throughout the design, Operational Test & Evaluation (OT&E), and sustainment phase of a system’s lifecycle
Supports contract modification and makes technical recommendations for change order approval; supports budget control directly supporting the engineering effort
Provides decision support inputs for approval of plans, specification, cost estimates, design calculations, schedules, cost proposals, and engineering studies
Qualifications Minimum Experience:
Citizenship: Must be a US citizen
Clearance: Possess and maintain a TS w/SCI eligibility
Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or related field
Years of Experience: 8 years of engineering experience, OR an equivalent mix of education and experience
Additional Experience
5 years of experience with small unmanned systems
Advanced knowledge of Group 1-3 unmanned systems to include procurement, technology, operations, sustainment, and fielding
Prior military experience with familiarity and/or experience in SOF tactics and organizations
Practical technical experience with sensors, tagging, tracking, and locating systems, surveillance systems, and close target audio reconnaissance systems
Practical experience or familiarity with the SOF requirements validation process
Familiarity with the DoD acquisition process is highly desired
