Harco Fittings LLC, founded in 1966 in Lynchburg, Virginia, produces gasketed joint injection‑molded PVC and push‑on gasketed joint ductile fittings. Our locations span across seven states in the US.
This role is a Maintenance Technician position based in Lynchburg, Virginia. The role reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and has a starting rate of $28.93 per hour.
Job Summary The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical systems in an injection‑molding environment. This role focuses on ensuring the reliability and performance of PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and other automation components critical to molding operations. The technician works closely with engineering and production teams to support continuous operation and process improvements.
Electrical Controls Maintenance
Install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical control systems including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and servo drives.
Diagnose and repair electrical faults in molding machines and auxiliary equipment.
Ensure proper functioning of sensors, actuators, and safety interlocks.
Automation Support
Assist in programming and modifying control logic for process optimization.
Support integration of new equipment and automation systems.
Collaborate with external controls engineers on troubleshooting and new applications.
Mechanical and Hydraulic System Maintenance
Troubleshoot and isolate issues with hydraulic controls.
Conduct general facility repairs including lighting, plumbing, HVAC, and structural components.Support utility systems such as compressed air, water, and electrical distribution.
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
Perform scheduled inspections and preventive maintenance tasks.
Use diagnostic tools to identify potential failures and reduce downtime.
Complete PMs with details on repairs and parts used.
Compliance & Safety
Ensure all electrical work complies with NEC, OSHA, NFPA 70E, and company safety standards.
Participate in safety audits and risk assessments.
Maintain documentation for electrical systems and control panel changes.
Qualifications & Experience
Associate degree or technical certification in electrical engineering, industrial automation, or related field.
3+ years of experience in electrical maintenance, preferably in injection‑molding or plastics manufacturing.
Proficiency in PLC troubleshooting (e.g., Allen‑Bradley, Siemens).
Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems and schematics.
Familiarity with robotics, 3‑phase motor controls, and industrial networking.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
Work Environment
Work at heights up to 16 feet on ladders or platform trucks.
Incumbent performs job responsibilities safely in a manufacturing environment.
Requires good mobility and involves considerable routine walking, standing for long periods, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 80 lbs.
