ICON is seeking an experienced Senior Superintendent to lead on‑site construction operations for Military Construction (MILCON) projects that combine ICON’s 3D printing technology with other innovative and conventional construction methods. This role is responsible for executing full‑scale projects from horizontal land development through vertical construction and interior finish out, ensuring excellence in safety, quality, and performance across all phases of work. The Superintendent serves as ICON’s on‑site leader, directing field personnel, subcontractors, and trade partners, while maintaining strict adherence to DoD, USACE, NAVFAC, and commercial building standards. The ideal candidate thrives in complex project environments that merge emerging technology with traditional craftsmanship, driving results through disciplined field management, proactive problem solving, and collaboration with design, engineering, and project management teams. This role reports to the Director of Construction and is based at our Austin, TX campus.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead day‑to‑day site operations, supervising field crews, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Coordinate logistics, manpower, equipment, and sequencing to meet safety, quality, and schedule goals.
Enforce compliance with project plans, technical specifications, UFC/UFGS standards, and federal safety protocols (EM 385‑1‑1, OSHA, AT/FP, CUI).
Maintain communication with project management, design teams, government representatives, and inspectors.
Conduct daily site walks, safety meetings, coordination meetings, and pre‑task reviews to resolve issues proactively.
Implement and document all phases of the USACE/NAVFAC Three‑Phase Quality Control System and conduct safety audits.
Track progress, validate subcontractor billings, and support cost‑to‑complete forecasting.
Manage all trades and ICON field teams, ensuring adherence to schedule, contract documents, safety, and quality standards.
Oversee deployment and integration of 3D printing systems, including material handling and coordination with conventional construction scopes.
Maintain detailed daily reports, logs, photo documentation, and stakeholder correspondence while anticipating risks affecting cost, schedule, or quality.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
8+ years of field leadership experience on DoD, USACE, NAVFAC, or large commercial construction projects.
Deep knowledge of construction means and methods, sequencing, and field coordination.
Familiarity with: Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) and UFGS, Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and DFARS, USACE/NAVFAC QC standards, EM 385‑1‑1 safety manual, AT/FP and site security compliance.
Proficiency in Procore, Smartsheet, Primavera P6, or equivalent construction management platforms.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interface with military, client, and internal leadership.
Eligible for Secret security clearance (active clearance preferred).
Willingness to travel and manage projects nationwide.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
USACE/NAVFAC CQM‑C Certification.
OSHA 30‑hour or EM 385‑1‑1 Safety Certification.
Experience with 3D printed, prefabricated, or modular construction systems.
Prior military service or direct experience working on base or secured facilities.
Exceptional onsite leadership and field decision‑making under pressure.
