Role Overview The Key Accounts/New Business Development Lead is responsible for driving revenue growth across Manic Panic’s key partners and developing new business both domestically and internationally. This role manages high-value accounts, builds strong customer relationships, and serves as the primary point of contact for national and international distributors, specialty retailers, beauty supply chains, and key e-commerce partners. In addition, this role will help identify and will be charged with identifying new business opportunities outside of existing partnerships and convert them to customers.
The Key Accounts/New Business Lead will execute strategic sales plans, grow existing accounts, hunt for new streams of business, open new doors, and ensure that Manic Panic’s iconic brand is represented with excellence across all channels. This role collaborates closely with Marketing, Product Development, Supply Chain, and Operations to ensure alignment on promotions, inventory, launches, and customer needs.
This is a senior, high‑impact role for someone who can both think strategically and execute flawlessly.
Key Responsibilities
Account Management & Relationship Building
Serve as the primary owner for assigned key accounts, ensuring exceptional service, responsiveness, and partnership.
Build and maintain strong, long‑term relationships with buyers, planners, distributors, and retail partners.
Develop a deep understanding of customer needs, operational structures, and business models to drive tailored solutions.
Conduct regular business reviews with each key account, including performance analysis, growth opportunities, and risk identification.
Sales Strategy, Planning & Execution
Drive sales growth across key accounts by executing Manic Panic’s sales strategy and meeting revenue targets.
Identify expansion opportunities within existing accounts, including product line increases, placement enhancements, promotional participation, and international growth.
Research new customer targets, pitch, follow‑up and convert to active customer.
Develop territory or market‑entry plans and prioritize high‑potential prospects.
Deliver accurate sales forecasting, order planning, and performance reporting.
Track and analyze market performance, category trends, and competitive activity to guide strategic decisions and adjust strategy.
Partner with Retail Marketing to support key retailer promotions, merchandising programs, events, and launches.
Ensure accurate and timely setup of new products, item data, pricing, and promotions for each account.
Manage distributor networks, ensuring proper communication of product information, inventory updates, and sales tools.
Support the onboarding and training of distributor sales teams on Manic Panic products and brand DNA.
Identify and research potential new clients in target markets.
Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified leads.
Use outbound channels (cold calls, emails, social selling, events) to generate interest.
Build rapport and establish trust with decision‑makers.
Position the company’s value proposition effectively.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Marketing on promotional calendars, social amplification, retail campaigns, and co‑op opportunities.
Partner with Supply Chain to manage inventory levels, ensure order fulfillment, and address shortages or delays.
Collaborate with Product Development on upcoming innovations and provide customer feedback that informs future products.
Coordinate with Accounting on invoicing issues, credit reconciliations, and payment resolution.
Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations for buyers and senior retail leaders.
Negotiate terms, promotional commitments, seasonal programs, and long‑term partnership opportunities.
Lead contract renewals, pricing reviews, and strategic growth discussions.
Attend trade shows and off‑site meetings, as needed, both international and domestic.
Reporting & Performance Metrics
Monitor weekly, monthly, and quarterly account performance.
Prepare reporting on sales trends, risks, opportunities, and action plans.
Maintain accurate CRM and account documentation, including contacts, notes, and pipeline activity.
Additional responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
8–12+ years of experience in sales or account management or new business development, ideally in beauty, personal care, or consumer lifestyle brands.
Deep experience owning major retail and global accounts (e.g., Walmart, Sally Beauty, Target, Ulta, Sephora, Boots, Douglas, Amazon, global distributors, etc.).
Proven track record of meeting or exceeding multimillion‑dollar revenue targets.
Strong international sales experience, including understanding of regional market dynamics.
Exceptional presentation, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
High business acumen—ability to interpret data, drive strategy, and influence decision‑making.
Highly organized, polished, and comfortable interacting with executives, partners, and founders.
Must be based in the New York City metro area.
