Position Summary
The Manager II assists the Client Accounting and Advisory services (CAAS) department through their involvement in overseeing staff's work on client engagements and direct involvement with the client on more complex accounting and bookkeeping matters. They are also looked upon as a resource for the firm and clients in the areas of software, payroll and sales tax.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Lead CAAS department engagements providing onboarding evaluation of client needs, structuring ongoing engagement to ensure efficient completion, and overseeing staff completing those engagements.
Assist new clients with cleanup of QB files and recommendations for future processing.
Assist clients with outsourced accounting services.
Complete interim and annual compilation engagements.
Review staff's work on various engagements.
Supervise and mentor a team of employees responsible for providing comprehensive assistance to clients in areas including payroll, sales tax, property tax, 1099s, and various business-related filings.
Assist clients with payroll, sales tax, property tax, 1099s, and other business-related filings.
Effectively communicate with Federal, State, and Local tax agencies on behalf of clients.
Respond to various governmental and non-governmental notices and/or audits.
May participate in conducting training sessions.
Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
Skills and Abilities Required
Ability to review client records to identify issues needing attention and design workflows to increase efficiency.
Ability to manage jobs to completion within budgeted hours.
Able to use advanced features of QuickBooks Desktop and Online products.
Ability to work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work effects with other employees and clients.
Ability to effectively select the appropriate communication method to fit the situation.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines.
Ability to interact, develop and maintain professional relationships with partners, employees, clients and tax authorities.
Ability to read, interpret and apply complex publications, such as sales tax laws and regulations for different states.
Ability to problem solve payroll tax notices for federal and other states.
Education and Experience Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
Six (6) to Ten (10) years experience as an accountant
Active Certified Public Accountant License
