Client Accounting Services (CAS) Senior Associate
The Client Accounting Services (CAS) Senior Associate is responsible for providing full-cycle accounting and bookkeeping services to our small business and family office clients, including individual owners and partnerships. This role prepares and analyzes financial information, ensures the accuracy and timeliness of client financial records, and works closely with clients, partners, and internal teams to support tax compliance and business decision-making. The CAS Senior Associate serves as a primary day-to-day contact for assigned clients and is expected to take ownership of engagements, identify process improvements and provide value-add insights beyond recurring compliance work. This role offers the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility and develop toward a future management position within the CAS department. This position reports to the CAS Manager. Key Responsibilities
Process deposits, pay bills, distribute payments, and reconcile bank and credit card accounts. Maintain accurate financial records and manage general ledger activity in QuickBooks. Track investment activity and prepare reconciliation workpapers. Prepare and process payroll and related tax returns. Complete month-end/ year-end close entries, supporting schedules and financial statements. Manage fixed asset records and depreciation schedules in support of 571-L filings. Prepare financial reports and workpapers for tax return preparation. Analyze financial results, identify variances, verify data integrity, and communicate findings. Complete various compliance filings, including business property tax statements, sales tax returns and 1099 information reporting. Ensure client records meet firm policies, professional standards and regulatory requirements. Client Engagement Management & Advisory Support
Lead day-to-day communication as the primary contact for assigned clients. Manage multiple client engagements and proactively communicate status updates, upcoming deadlines, and outstanding items. Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve workflows and enhance the client experience. Review work prepared by CAS Associates and provide coaching, feedback, and guidance. Collaborate with CAS team members, tax staff, and partners to ensure seamless service. Contribute to refining standard operating procedures, templates, and workpapers. Participate in firmwide initiatives, internal trainings, and knowledge-sharing activities. Engage in CAS business development activities, including prospect outreach and intake of inbound referrals, with the opportunity to eventually lead these efforts. Qualifications & Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. 4–6+ years of progressive accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferably in a public accounting firm or outsourced client accounting services environment. Proficiency in Excel (e.g., pivot tables, lookups, formulas) and accounting software, including QuickBooks Desktop/Online (QB ProAdvisor certification a plus), as well as payroll systems such as ADP and Paychex. Experience managing multiple client relationships and competing deadlines. Prior experience reviewing the work of others and providing coaching and feedback. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a client-service mindset. Ability to assist clients in understanding accounting and financial concepts in clear terms. Demonstrated problem-solving ability, strong attention to detail, excellent organization and the ability to work independently. Full-time, exempt position. Hybrid role requiring at least two days per week in the office, with occasional additional in-office time as needed for training, collaboration, and client or internal meetings. Professional office environment with regular interaction across teams. Periodic extended hours during peak periods. Salary range
$120,000.00 - $140,000.00
