Panelboard Quality Inspector - 1st shift Join Eaton’s ES AMER ARS division as a Panelboard Quality Inspector on 1st shift. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 5:00 am–1:30 pm. Hourly rate is $19.00, with variable incentive. Salary is a general guideline; actual pay depends on experience, skills, market, and business considerations.

What You’ll Do The Panelboard Inspector visually and mechanically inspects panelboards to confirm that products meet engineering, design, and customer requirements. Work references drawings, design literature, electrical/utility codes, and Eaton’s quality documents. The goal is timely order fulfillment while upholding Eaton’s quality standards.

Essential Functions

Demonstrate continuous improvement and high quality compliance for all functions. Ensure products meet Eaton’s guidelines through the production process and collaborative quality checks.

Receive and execute work assignments from management and internal customers, meeting customer order timelines. Follow procedures, and complete special assignments as required.

Support a safe, engaged, and inclusive work culture by complying with all safety requirements, proper PPE use, equipment operation, and performing 5S duties.

Inspect all PNBD panelboards on all lines, performing electrical and mechanical tests (Hi‑Pot, continuity, component tests) per instructions and regulatory requirements. Verify panelboards function properly and document non‑conformances.

Incorporate revisions from production floor and ensure documentation reflects current revision, without using outdated documents.

Serve as informal trainer, assisting associates with complex tasks and product requirements.

Document non‑conformances for problem‑solving and continuous improvement; communicate issues to production personnel and confirm rework. Alert design teams to errors, obtain revisions, and verify rework.

Coordinate with other inspectors to transfer incomplete jobs between shifts, preventing missed inspections and maintaining full accountability.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.

Minimum of 1 year of panelboard experience in assembly or equivalent.

Legal authorization to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

Only candidates residing within a 50‑mile radius of Sumter, SC, will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

Computer literate.

Working knowledge of Lean concepts.

Associate’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or Electronics.

Skills

Strong verbal and written communication, persuasive and analytical problem‑solving skills.

Knowledge of basic electricity, current flow, component functionality, schematics, wiring diagrams, and assembly processes (Hi‑Pot, shunt trip).

Knowledge of all assembled PNBD product designs.

Experience with UL, NEC, regional utility codes, and customer‑specific requirements.

Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret manufacturing documents (drawings, MIs, wiring diagrams, test procedures).

Thorough knowledge of basic electricity, current flow, and component functionality.

Additional Information Works independently and makes decisions that affect the workgroup. Focuses on achieving assigned goals and meeting internal and external customer expectations.

Physical Demands Requires regular standing, walking, sitting, reaching, gripping, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling. Must lift/carry up to 35 lbs and push/pull up to or greater than 35 lbs. Vision includes far and close vision with depth perception and color discrimination. Regular communication required.

Work Environment Exposed to noise and dust. Regular exposure to loud noise and airborne dust particles.
