Building/Facilities Maintenance Technician (Part-Time)
Position Summary: The City of Corona is seeking a skilled and dedicated Building/Facilities Maintenance Technician (Part-Time) to join our team of facility heroes. In this role, you won’t just fix things—you’ll keep our city’s buildings running smoothly, safely, and efficiently for everyone who relies on them. This position works on a wide range of essential maintenance projects in parks, public buildings, community centers, and more.
Responsibilities
Basic principles and practices of refrigeration and refrigerant gases and their uses
Plumbing and public restroom repair
Heating and ventilation unit repairs; welding and metal fabrication; cement and carpentry work; plastering and painting procedures; electrical repairs a variety of hand, power and shop tools
Education / Training / Experience
Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent
Three (3) years of journey-level experience in the general building trades; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Additional training and vocational certification in the Building Trades is desirable.
Skills & Abilities
Operate a variety of motorized vehicles and equipment in a safe and effective manner
Perform a variety of building maintenance duties including painting, plastering, plumbing, window installation, electrical and other related duties
Read and interpret blueprints and electrical wiring diagrams
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, contractors, the general public and those encountered in the course of the work
Installs, repairs and inspects playground equipment and evaluates for safety
Licenses and Certifications / Special Requirements A valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the City’s Vehicle Insurance Policy. May work on‑call or be expected to respond to emergency situations.

Those applicants deemed to possess the most desirable qualifications will be invited to participate in a possible virtual HireVue and oral interview. The top scoring candidates from the oral interview will be placed on an eligibility list from which the department may hire. The eligibility list established from this recruitment may also be used to fill the current and/or additional vacancies throughout the City.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a reference/background check including Livescan and pass a pre‑employment medical examination (which will include a drug/alcohol screening).
