Production Supervisor – Bacon & Blending – 2nd Shift
Indiana Packers Corporation is seeking a Production Supervisor for 2nd Shift operations in our bacon and blending department. The Production Supervisor oversees the production process, operating procedures, and working conditions in the bacon department, ensuring that daily production and quality targets are achieved.
The role reports to the department Superintendent and requires strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills to maintain high morale, safety, and quality standards.
Responsibilities
Lead the activities of the team members in the production of quality products in accordance with established and accepted company criteria.
Implement and maintain safety standards throughout the area of responsibility as required by law and company policy.
Direct and implement job‑related training for all team members, ensuring minimum job rotation requirements are met.
Provide coaching and guidance to team members to resolve employee issues and enforce corrective actions.
Create a high‑morale workplace that upholds ethical standards and treats all team members with dignity and respect.
Manage completion of production schedules as set by the superintendent.
Ensure all processing procedures (quality, safety, etc.) are adhered to and not compromised.
Maintain discipline and accountability for team members to meet company and customer goals.
Monitor and implement timely improvement actions to meet production quality and quantity objectives.
Apply problem‑solving techniques, teamwork strategies, and process‑control tools to meet or exceed the schedule.
Facilitate workflow management, workforce scheduling, and placement to surpass facility and company goals.
Conduct or lead process audits to identify and correct deviations, minimizing non‑conforming product root causes.
Promote compliance with company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping through fair accountability methods.
Collaborate with other supervisors to ensure optimal facility performance.
Assist with pre‑operation activities as directed.
Perform other duties as needed or required.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
Minimum of 1+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, meat processing preferred.
Knowledge of USDA and HACCP procedures.
Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work in extreme hot, cold, wet, humid, and odorous conditions.
Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, extensive overtime, and weekends.
Good computer literacy and report‑writing abilities.
Results‑driven and employee‑oriented.
Commitment to safety policies, practices, and required PPE usage.
Uphold company policies and ethical standards.
Strong leadership, motivational, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
Willingness to attend training as needed.

Work Environment Periodic exposure to extreme conditions, fumes, airborne particles, vibrating machinery, and loud noise requiring hearing protection. Operations occur in cold, hot, and outdoor environments with inclement weather.
Physical Demand Requires lifting heavy objects, walking and standing for long periods, rapid arm and leg movements, excellent manual dexterity, and stamina. Vision and core strength are essential for safe operation.
