Inventory Control Supervisor

Overview The Inventory Control Supervisor oversees daily warehouse and material movement operations to ensure efficient receipt, storage, and distribution of materials. They serve as a critical link between manufacturing, production control, and procurement, ensuring material flow aligns with business processes. The supervisor manages workflows, monitors performance, drives process improvements, and maintains safety standards and inventory accuracy. Additionally, they provide leadership, training, and direction for cycle counting, transaction auditing, and material rejection processes.
Essential Functions
Oversee the accurate and timely receiving, picking, packing, and dispatching of goods, ensuring quality control and adherence to procedures
Supervise and lead the warehouse team, setting clear objectives, monitoring performance, and fostering a safe and productive work environment
Manage and oversee the part kitting process, ensuring kits are prepared accurately and delivered on time to support production schedules
Serve as a Safety Champion, promoting and enforcing safety standards, conducting regular audits, and leading initiatives to maintain a culture of safety throughout the operations
Support the creation of production plans that minimize inventory levels and maximize customer satisfaction
Develop, maintain, and communicate key performance indicators that align with executive strategic and plant-level performance measures; analyze data to identify causes of variances
Set objectives for reports; review and monitor the performance to objectives; select, train and motivate employees to meet objectives, removing barriers to success whenever possible; work with employees to develop skills and advance their personal development plan
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize warehouse operations and material flow
Train and direct cycle counting team to ensure accurate transactions and audits
Supervise up to 20 direct reports
Foster harmonious relations within the shifts
Report directly to the Materials Manager
Required Qualifications
High school diploma and 7+ years of relevant experience or associate’s degree with 5+ years relevant experience or bachelor’s with 3+ years of relevant experience
Two years of hands‑on experience with production planning and/or inventory management
Three years’ experience leading teams (indirectly or directly)
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Proficient in Lean manufacturing techniques
Strong attention to detail and quality of work
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Understanding of priorities and balancing short‑term and long‑term requirements
Demonstrated competence in the planning and set up of the KANBAN pull system
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Supply Chain or Operations Management
Extensive ERP system experience, particularly with IFS
A proven record of supervisory experience and strong leadership
Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
Experience in DOT compliance, transportation safety, or a related logistics role
Working knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, and HOS regulations
Proficient in driver management systems and compliance tracking tools
