Base Pay Range $75,000.00/yr - $112,000.00/yr

We use large data sets and analytic models to solve our most challenging problems. This includes mining and analyzing financial and operational data, designing and developing data systems and collaborating with internal partners to reveal insights that lead to great decisions. The Data Analyst reports to the Business Analysis and Reporting Data Scientist. The primary purpose of this position is to provide data science and advanced data analytics solutions and consulting to improve profitability and performance of the supply chain. These solutions are implemented by leveraging vast amounts of data combined with skills in computer programming, statistics, mathematics, business analytics, machine learning, business intelligence and database design. These skills are used to deliver descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive models to leadership in various corporate, retail, RBU, and other supply chain roles. This position requires an agile software development mindset and the ability to deliver end‑to‑end full‑stack solutions, including ideation/brainstorming, data/feature engineering, data wrangling, modeling/coding, testing, deploying/implementing and leadership consulting.

Responsibilities

Develop analytical models, including descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive models to provide business insights and recommendations for Publix internal business processes in supply chain areas such as retail stores, RBUs, Corporate Forecasting and other support teams.

Analysis and reporting, including development of interactive dashboards, leadership reporting, and ad hoc analysis to provide business insights and recommendations for retail stores, RBU’s, support teams and other supply chain business areas.

Leadership consulting and advisory services utilizing knowledge of advanced analytical processes, data assets, and business processes for senior leadership, management, RBUs, support teams and other supply chain business areas.

Lead and participate in complex cross‑functional strategic initiatives.

Continuous learning and maintenance & growth of professional skills in advanced data analytics.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Information Technology, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Engineering or another analytical discipline from an accredited college or university or its equivalent.

Demonstrated experience (work experience and/or educational experience) in solving analytical problems, coding with SQL, coding with R and/or Python, advanced knowledge of mathematics and statistics, accounting and/or finance knowledge, communication skills, analytical abilities and decision‑making skills, project management skills, sound organizational skills, exceptional multi‑tasking and prioritization abilities, continuous learning and advancement of technical skills, professional manner, work under minimal supervision, initiative, customer focus, self‑motivation, commitment, integrity, positive attitude, negotiation skills.

Basic knowledge of statistical analysis and software development tools (R and Python).

Basic knowledge of SQL (Teradata, DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, Access, NoSQL).

Intermediate Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access skills.

May be necessary to work extended hours and weekends to meet deadlines.

Must be a self‑starter requiring little to no direction in day‑to‑day activities.

Willingness to train other associates and to be flexible and adapt quickly and efficiently to change.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Data Analytics, MBA, or master’s degree in other analytical discipline.

Meet minimum requirements and have 3+ years of analytics work‑related experience.

INFORMS Certified Analytics Professional or similar professional certification.

Recent completions of Coursera or similar courses to demonstrate ability to stay on trend with analytics.

Advanced ability to work with large volumes of data, advanced knowledge of data analytics best practices, in depth understanding of Information Systems design methodologies and testing processes, knowledge of specific business area processes and data, advanced knowledge of operations research techniques, knowledge of Supply Chain and Logistics methodologies, knowledge of Publix’s information systems and data, knowledge of Retail Operations, RBUs, Corporate Purchasing, Manufacturing, Distribution.

Leadership skills, including ability to influence others.

Basic knowledge of MicroStrategy.

Basic knowledge of Visual Basic.

Intermediate knowledge of Power BI & Tableau.

Advanced knowledge of statistical analysis and software development tools (R and Python).

Advanced knowledge of SQL (Teradata, DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, Access, NoSQL).

Advanced Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access skills.

Year End Bonus As a year‑end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro‑rated in the first year) each year if the associate remains employed through the issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
