About the Position The
Facilities Manager
is responsible for the maintenance, care, and repairs of the campus. The facilities manager may supervise facility staff as well as manage vendors associated with Canine Companions building maintenance and construction. The facilities manager will also provide support and assistance during events on campus.
Key Responsibilities
General Maintenance & Repair:
Schedule, perform, and complete maintenance requests from staff that do not need to be outsourced to a vendor. Review, evaluate, perform, recommend, and coordinate repair, preventative maintenance, or replacement of existing equipment, buildings, and/or campus grounds.
Safety, Compliance & Security:
Ensure facilities maintenance work follows general industry and construction safety standards, including use of required personal protective equipment and compliance with specifications. Scheduling of outside security contractors may be necessary.
Inventory Management:
Maintain inventories of janitorial, landscape, and maintenance supplies and equipment. Ensure work orders are tracked and completed within the budgeted guidelines.
Contractor & Vendor Management:
Review and oversee all maintenance and landscaping contractors for facility projects to ensure outsourced projects are done efficiently, cost‑effectively, and on time.
Vehicle & Key Systems Management:
Oversee the maintenance of campus vehicles, including fleet scheduling, service and tune‑ups, cleaning, and equipping vehicles for program needs. Oversee and maintain locks and keys for campus in collaboration with the office manager.
Volunteer Coordination & Project Support:
Train, assign, and assist with appropriate maintenance and landscaping duties while working with volunteers and ensure they have proper safety equipment and knowledge. Assist staff in preparing volunteers for campus projects like painting, landscaping, etc.
Qualifications To be successful in this role, candidates should possess the following:
Must Have
Proficiency using general power tools and maintenance equipment and knowledge of related safety procedures and guidelines.
Ability to supervise, direct and train others with tasks in plumbing, automotive, carpentry, landscaping, janitorial, small hand tools and electrical.
Ability to prioritize and multi‑task to enhance productivity and manage workload.
High level of adaptability to deal with multiple demands for resources; able to problem‑solve and deal with changes in demands and or deadlines.
Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team in support of a project/program and support team members.
Clear knowledge of construction and industry safety and building regulations as they pertain to state and federal laws.
Nice to Have
Minimum of 2 years’ experience with working knowledge in electrical, landscaping, equipment repair and maintenance. Project management experience preferred.
High School graduate, GED or equivalent experience.
Compensation
Salary Range: $25.00‑27.50 hourly
