Head Coach Football
University of Saint Mary is a Roman Catholic, liberal arts university located in Leavenworth, Kansas, just 25 minutes from Kansas City. It serves about 1,400 students across its main campus, satellite campus, and online programs.
Position Summary The Head Coach will plan and direct all aspects of the USM Football program, ensuring alignment with the university’s mission and Athletic Department objectives. Beyond wins, the role emphasizes holistic development of student‑athletes—academically, athletically, and personally—while upholding integrity and representing the university with pride.
Essential Functions
Oversee daily operations of the football program with emphasis on conduct, discipline, academic achievement, and character development.
Teach and promote the USM Mission values of community, respect, justice, and excellence.
Identify, recruit, and retain talented student‑athletes who adapt to the college environment.
Administer NAIA, KCAC, and USM policies related to recruitment and eligibility.
Evaluate player performance and foster skill development.
Field a competitive team through analysis of own and opponent capabilities to determine game strategy.
Manage program budgets, travel planning, and fundraising efforts.
Supervise practices, competitions, and all coaching staff.
Assist the Athletic Department with events, promotions, fundraising, and recruitment activities.
Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred).
3–5 years of related coaching experience.
Working knowledge of NAIA and KCAC rules and regulations.
