We are excited to announce the opportunity for a skilled Quality Control Inspector - Structural Steel to join our dynamic team. This role is integral to our mission of continuing to drive quality and excellence within our projects. Job Title: Quality Control Inspector – Structural Steel (Shop)

This full-time position requires a professional who is prepared to work hands-on within our fabrication shop. The appointed Quality Control Inspector will play a crucial role in ensuring all structural steel fabrication and welding activities comply with technical drawings, relevant codes, and our stringent quality standards. This position is not remote and will be based in our Mesa, Arizona facility. Key Responsibilities:

Perform in-process and final visual inspections of structural steel fabrication and welds in a shop environment. Verify material identification, heat numbers, and traceability against Mill Test Reports (MTRs). Inspect assembly fit-up, welding, bolting, hole sizes, edge conditions, and dimensional tolerances to ensure product quality and code compliance. Ensure all welding operations are performed in accordance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPSs) and that welders hold the proper qualifications. Confirm proper joint preparation prior to welding to avoid any defects. Document inspection results comprehensively, including noting any necessary repairs and re-inspections. Initiate and meticulously track Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) when discrepancies are identified. Coordinate inspections smoothly with production staff, shop supervision, and third-party inspectors to ensure effective workflow management. Maintain detailed inspection and quality assurance records in alignment with both project specifications and company requirements. Support and participate in both internal and external audits, ensuring all quality documentation is readily available and complete. Enforce strict adherence to established inspection hold points and quality procedures throughout the fabrication process. Requirements:

Minimum of 5 years experience in inspection within a structural steel fabrication environment. Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and apply structural steel drawings, shop drawings, weld symbols, and specifications. Familiarity and working knowledge of industry standards, including AWS D1.1 and AISC requirements. Exceptional attention to detail and robust documentation skills. Effective communication skills, capable of clearly articulating inspection findings with both shop personnel and management teams. Proficiency in using software tools such as Tekla or other inspection software for documentation and tracking. Preferred certifications include AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) and NDT certifications (VT required; UT, MT, PT a plus). Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and inspect components for extended periods. Must be able to lift and carry inspection tools and materials as needed. Strict adherence to safety protocols, with PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, hearing protection) required at all times in the shop environment. Why Work with Us?
