Overview
The Financial and Administrative Services (FAS) Business Services Team is seeking a Business Manager II to manage and coordinate business operations for Dining Services and the Card Office. This role provides day-to-day leadership for financial and administrative functions, including budget development and oversight, human resources administration, accounts payable and receivable, service center/auxiliary accounting, and appropriated fund accounting.
Reporting to the Financial Officer for Finance and Administrative Services, the Business Manager II works closely with leadership and staff within Dining Services and the Card Office to ensure sound financial management, accurate reporting, and efficient operational support.
Responsibilities
Serve as the primary business resource and consultant to the Executive Director, Director, Department Head, and business services staff within assigned units.
Oversee the financial management and compliance of daily operations and transactions, including P-card expenditures, Banner financial processing, travel-related reimbursements and accounting, and personnel-related financial actions.
Lead budget-related activities including budget preparation, reconciliation, data management, and fiscal reporting support.
Develop and maintain databases and spreadsheets to support ad-hoc reporting and decision-making.
Ensure payroll activities are accurately recorded and processed.
Coordinate, design, and implement financial and management systems that improve accuracy and efficiency.
Distribute monthly budget updates and reporting to Financial Managers or Operation Managers.
Maintain annual budgets using appropriate accounting and budgeting methodologies; support completion of the annual salary planner for assigned units.
Communicate and coordinate with colleges and departments across and outside USU regarding financial and administrative matters.
Reconcile and review financial statements to ensure accuracy, compliance, and completeness.
Adapt procedures, processes, and tools to meet evolving and complex business needs.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field plus three years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with management reporting tools.
Professional, self-directed, and able to manage increasingly complex projects.
Strong written, verbal, presentation, and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision and make timely, sound decisions.
Team-oriented, proactive, and committed to meeting unit goals.
Detail-oriented with strong integrity, initiative, and work ethic.
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of USU systems including Banner, AggieTime, EZBuy, and Argos.
Experience with USU travel processes and procedures.
Familiarity with USU policies and procedures.
Advanced understanding of financial principles, practices, and concepts.
