Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Project Planner / Coordinator
Employment Type 6 month contract
Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Project Planner/Coordinator to support project execution from planning through commissioning. This role involves scheduling, technical oversight, coordination across disciplines, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Project Scheduling & Planning:
Develop and plan E&I tasks and submit schedules to the TAR scheduler.
Align E&I work with overall project timelines and sequencing tasks.
Coordinate electrical equipment outages and temporary equipment connections (e.g., generators).
Participate in progress meetings from project bid walk-through to commissioning.
Technical Oversight:
Interpret complex electrical drawings (P&IDs, single-line diagrams).
Provide technical guidance and ensure quality installation.
Review engineering packages (IFA, IFB, IFC) and provide comments and improvement recommendations.
Oversee contractor work for compliance and quality.
Coordination:
Act as the technical liaison between electrical, mechanical, civil, and operations teams to prevent workflow conflicts.
Assist in permitting processes.
Manage field labor and subcontractors; drive field execution.
Safety & Compliance:
Ensure all work adheres to OSHA and industry safety regulations.
Conduct inspections and enforce compliance with codes and standards.
Documentation & Reporting:
Prepare daily progress reports.
Redline drawings for as-built documentation.
Communicate project status and updates to stakeholders.
Commissioning & Testing:
Oversee commissioning activities and verify system functionality.
Supervise electrical testing (megger, hi-pot, etc.) and validate test results.
Material & Resource Management:
Plan material requirements and coordinate with contractors/vendors.
Ensure timely delivery and execution of field activities.
Qualifications
10+ years of experience in E&I project planning and execution.
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, drawings, and industry standards.
Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safety compliance.
Excellent coordination and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
