Preventative Maintenance Technician Transdev North America is hiring a Diesel Technician based in Rolla, KS. The role requires diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines across a variety of vehicles, with an emphasis on preventative maintenance to ensure safety, efficiency, and longevity.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers by performing limited repairs with moderate supervision on basic and advanced maintenance tasks such as replacement of light bulbs, fuses, lenses, wiper blades, belts, hoses, batteries, checking fluid levels, changing fluids and filters, and lubricating components.

Perform mechanical repairs under supervision, including brake repairs and inspections, engine tune‑ups, suspensions, drive trains, transmission clutches, and other repairs.

Maintain records of all maintenance work completed on vehicles including parts and supplies used; ensure work orders are completed accurately and that parts usage records are maintained and repair parts are ordered from designated suppliers.

Conduct preventative maintenance (PM’s), safety maintenance inspections, and annual maintenance inspections at prescribed intervals of time and usage.

Notify supervisor of potentially dangerous equipment and corrective actions taken.

Evaluate completed work prior to release and seek approval where required.

Assist with road calls and emergency services as necessary.

Adhere to Transdev standards, policies, and procedures.

Move vehicles safely between job and work area.

Repair and maintain all shop equipment.

Clean vehicles as requested or required.

Other responsibilities as requested or required.

Education & Certifications

High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair (preferred).

Class B CDL with air brake endorsement (preferred).

State inspection license (if required).

Ase certification preferred.

Intermediate mechanical aptitude and 1 year of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred) or equivalent education and experience.

Maintain an organized shop and a clean work environment.

Possess adequate mechanic tool inventory to complete all assigned duties and maintain it in a clean and safe manner.

Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.

Physical Requirements

Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions; 100% of the job is performed outside, often alone and in remote locations.

Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces.

Push and pull objects, lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level.

Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes, and noise.

Benefits

Competitive compensation package of minimum $19.00 – maximum $21.00.

Vacation: minimum of two (2) weeks.

Sick days: 5 days.

Holidays: 8 days (6 standard and 2 floating).
