About the Position The Packager Lead directs and monitors overall activities of the Packaging department at our 54th Street location.
Schedule
3rd Shift
8 hours per day with possible overtime during peak production periods
Wage:
$27.00 per hour, plus $1.00 per hour for shift differential.
Primary Responsibilities
Ensure production personnel start on time by directing a setup crew that prepares the processing room before shift begins.
Track department, line, and employee efficiencies to maintain company standards.
Train new employees, monitor performance, and enforce procedural compliance.
Coach, direct, and motivate employees on performance, attendance, and company guidelines as needed.
Coordinate personnel and product to ensure smooth workflow and schedule adherence.
Maintain an even flow of work through organization, planning, and timely adjustments.
Develop productive personnel and teams by monitoring efficiencies, conducting reviews, counseling sessions, evaluations, insisting on safety, and keeping up‑to‑date records.
Hold operators and other personnel accountable for their responsibilities.
Monitor all aspects of the department and shift—paperwork, equipment, cleanliness, personnel—to ensure USDA and company specifications are met.
Manage waste and supply to sustain plant profitability, controlling payroll and overtime.
Monitor product quality, troubleshoot and resolve discrepancies.
Communicate production schedule to shift supervisor.
Promote safety by insisting on a clean, safe working environment and good GMP practices.
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent (required).
Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
1–2 years of manufacturing experience preferred.
1–2 years of lead worker experience preferred.
