About the Position Maintenance Mechanics must have a strong background in the repair of pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical, PLCs, servos, and vacuum equipment/machinery. Mechanics are expected to work with the plant’s CMMS system, communicate well, and be team players. Understanding Lean Manufacturing is required.
Schedule
3rd Shift: 9:30 pm – 6:00 am, Saturday – Wednesday. Days may change due to company needs.
Wage Hourly range: $30.00 – $35.00 per hour, DOE.
Primary Responsibilities
Understand electrical schematics and operate a variety of hand and power tools.
Understand CMMS concepts.
Maintain production lines by providing "on‑line" repairs on all packaging/processing lines, including:
Conveyors
Code Daters (Thermal & Ink jet)
Basic Computer skills
Slicing Equipment
Stuffing and Grinding equipment
Ishida Scales
Metal Detectors
Vertical/Horizontal Form Fill Seal
Boiler
NH3 systems
Air compressors/Vacuum Pumps
Plant lighting and electrical
Smokehouses
Troubleshoot equipment failures, adjust/repair/replace parts using hand and power tools, and specialty tools such as volt‑OHM meters.
Set machines up at shift start according to the production schedule.
Report delays to Lead Mechanic or Maintenance Supervisor.
Submit parts requisition forms for low‑inventory or non‑inventory stock.
Fabricate needed parts when availability is limited using gear such as grinder, drill press, band saw, and MIG/TIG welding equipment.
Coordinate non‑emergency repairs, overhauls, or preventive maintenance during downtime.
Perform general preventive maintenance.
Qualifications
High school diploma (minimum); 2 years of college preferred, not required.
Experience in pneumatics, mechanical, refrigeration, boiler, and electrical repairs.
Basic computer skills.
3 years’ experience in maintenance field, with at least 1 year in food or manufacturing industry.
3 years plumbing or general facilities repair experience.
3 years pneumatics and hydraulics experience.
Understand PLC wiring and ladder logic (training or experience).
Familiarity with HACCP (OJT).
Compliance with GMPs (OJT).
Compliance with personal safety rules (OJT).
Maintain own quality hand tools, keeping them clean, sanitary, rust‑free, and functional.
Understand LOTO and confined space procedures.
Capability to wire and phase high voltage motors and machines up to 480 V.
Proficient at wiring control circuits of all voltages and types, including motor starters, frequency controllers, and start‑stop circuits.
Proficient at wiring and understanding NPN, PNP devices.
Able to read blueprints and schematics.
Good communication skills.
Physical Requirements
Perform tasks such as sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
Climb stairs, pull hoses, etc.
Work in various‑temperature environments.
Handle heavy objects safely, lifting up to 25 lb routinely and up to 50 lb as needed.
Talk, hear, and smell frequently.
Reach with hands and arms; use hands to pick, hold, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
Vision required: close vision, distance vision, focus adjustment.
