Responsibilities Detailed inspection of electrical control panels, junction boxes and wire harnesses from electrical blueprints. This position is responsible for physical inspection of wiring and testing of electrical panels for industrial equipment. The panel shop Quality Inspector will test with multimeter all controls to their respective blueprints, including but not limited to the primary responsibilities outlined below.
Dimensioning and layout of back panels and enclosures
Torque check of devices
Electrical testing
UL testing and use of proper documentation and label certification
Review defect corrections with panel builders and verify corrections when the panel builder is finished correcting their defects
Fill out quality check sheet for panels / cabinets
When the panel/cabinet is finished, take pictures to be stored on the server
Checking components to back panels and enclosures for location and tightness
Point-to-point Continuity checks of Relays, Controls, PLC's, I/O Modules, VFD's, Interfaces & Instrumentation
Troubleshooting as needed to eliminate errors and potential component malfunctions
Maintaining redline drawing mark-ups of any changes required during manufacturing (as signed off by Engineering)
Communicate effectively with all team members as well as Management
Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
Support Panel Shop Supervisor and function as proxy when he is away
Create work instructions as needed
Work with our engineering team on panel requirements and drawing reviews
Ensure all quality tools meet calibration standards and certifications
Use the CAR system (Corrective Action Report) to improve our processes and solve problems
Strong attention to quality and details
Teamwork approach and ability to help in other areas as needed
Responsible to keep all quality check plans updated and creating new ones as needed
Support the Hixson panel shop with any documentation needed for quality checks
Support the Project Manager on Quality improvements throughout the project
Train all new quality technicians and help train new panel builders on quality process checks
Issue Quality Alerts and follow up on customer defects
Update Tier Boards and drive continuous improvement
All other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally in English
Ability to read and understand blueprints/drawings
Ability to use torque wrenches and torque screw drivers
Knowledge of electrical theory and terminology
Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excell
5+ Years' experience in a Manufacturing environment
Technical or post-graduate education
UL 508A Certification
Physical Demands
Must be able to sit, stand, kneel, stoop, walk, and sit for extended periods of time
Ability to lift 50 lbs
