Associate Attorney (2–3 Years Experience)
Plaintiff‑Side Employment Litigation | New York City
Base Pay Range $125,000 – $160,000 per year
Additional Compensation Commission
The Role This role is a hands‑on litigation position working directly under a Partner and alongside experienced trial attorneys. Associates are expected to take ownership of cases, think strategically, and manage matters proactively.
Responsibilities
Handling employment discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination cases
Drafting and arguing motions (including dispositive motions)
Taking and defending depositions
Managing discovery and case strategy
Reviewing files independently and anticipating next steps, deadlines, and case needs
Serving as a lead liaison on assigned cases as experience grows
Participating in settlement negotiations, mediations, and trial preparation
Qualifications
2–3 years of litigation experience (exceptional candidates with slightly less experience may be considered)
A solid understanding of litigation process, procedure, and basic strategy
Strong legal writing skills; candidates should genuinely enjoy writing motions and briefs
Experience having been “in the trenches” of litigation (motions, discovery, depositions)
Ability to work quickly and think critically without constant supervision
Professional, reliable, motivated, and able to thrive in a high‑volume environment
Associates work closely with a Partner who is a strong teacher and mentor. While associates are expected to be self‑directed and proactive, there is meaningful guidance, collaboration, and investment in development.

Associates will:
Learn how to build and leverage cases
Develop judgment around case strengths, weaknesses, and valuation
Gain exposure to trials, depositions, and extensive motion practice
Receive ongoing feedback and support from experienced trial lawyers
Compensation & Advancement
Base salary: approximately $125,000–$155,000
Commission: ~2.5% on settled matters, calculated on the firm’s fee portion (increases as you are promoted)
Clear path to increased compensation as responsibility grows
Associates who align with the contingency model and can manage cases effectively may see further increases
