Retail Description We’re looking for a Windows Server Administrator to join our team in Little Rock, Arkansas, to help plan, design, build, and support solutions for one of the nation’s largest retail companies. Our ideal candidate enjoys working in a fast‑paced, hands‑on environment supporting critical infrastructure. In this role, you’ll manage, secure, and optimize Windows‑based systems across physical and virtual environments. You’ll have the opportunity to work with various technologies, contribute to modernization efforts, and help strengthen our disaster recovery and automation processes. The ideal candidate is proactive, dependable, and ready to take ownership of their work while collaborating with others. THE TEAM The Windows Server Team is a close‑knit, collaborative group responsible for managing and administering all company servers and domains. We work across multiple IT areas to ensure stability, security, and efficiency. Our team thrives on helping each other, sharing knowledge, and finding more innovative ways to do the job. You’ll touch everything from Active Directory and DNS to file permissions, backups, and Group Policy—the whole stack that keeps Dillard’s running smoothly.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Configure, deploy, manage, and secure complex Windows Server environments.
Collaborate across teams to plan and maintain enterprise‑level server architectures.
Automate routine tasks to improve reliability and reduce manual work.
Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
Support physical and virtual infrastructure, including patching, upgrades, and migrations.
Stay current with Microsoft technologies and industry trends.
Document procedures and share knowledge within the team.
Participate in a 6‑week on‑call rotation once fully trained.
THE MUST‑HAVES
5+ years of Windows Server Administration experience
Active Directory, DNS, and Group Policy administration
Understanding of backup and recovery management and testing solutions
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs to rack and stack hardware for installation
Ability and desire to learn emerging technologies
Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve system issue(s)
Windows Server (all operating systems)
Familiarity with Privileged Access Management (PAM)
Change management experience using ServiceNow or similar tools
Understanding of network fundamentals (DNS, firewalls, etc.)
General knowledge of hardware OEMs and virtualization technologies
Excellent communication, accountability, and teamwork skills
Desire to learn and stay current with new technologies
THE NICE‑TO‑HAVES
NTFS/Share Access Control/Permissions
PowerShell scripting and automation, or other command‑line interfaces
Understanding of concepts and practices with password & secrets vault solutions
WITHIN 1 MONTH, YOU’LL
Have security and domain access set up
Develop a general understanding of the systems & application layers supported by the Windows Server Administration team
Learn our monthly patching cycle and environment layout
Become proficient in Privileged Access Management (PAM)
Become proficient in ServiceNow processes
WITHIN 2 MONTHS, YOU’LL
Take ownership of core daily tasks, including patching and system monitoring
Understand and execute change controls independently
Commission and decommission servers as needed
Restore files and folders confidently
Shadow a mentor during on‑call rotations and actively contribute during the day
Monitor backup jobs and validate successful recoveries
WITHIN 3 MONTHS, YOU’LL
Fully participate in the on‑call rotation
Lead small projects and collaborate on larger team initiatives
Update and create documentation within the shared team drive
Contribute to automation and process improvement ideas
Demonstrate confidence in troubleshooting and maintaining enterprise server environments
