Responsibilities

Coordinate with growers on leased land and supervise local staffing during in‑season activities.

Assist with conducting in‑season research activities such as phenotyping, study management, and data analytics review.

Partner with other Field Associates and cross‑site teams to improve data quality, standard operating procedures, and compliance actions.

Ensure safe and efficient operation of the research program in alignment with Bayer’s HSE, Quality, Compliance and Stewardship requirements, and Business Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards.

Collaborate with project team members to deliver detailed experimental protocols supporting scientists and product placement decisions.

Use equipment (tractors, specialized planters, commercial harvesters, drones, and digital tools) to collect, analyze, and deliver agronomic data throughout the growing season.

Leverage internal operations knowledge to work with partners on innovation projects focused on improving tools and processes.

Self‑motivate, problem‑solve, and prioritize time and project management decisions.

Build networks across diverse teams and local community partners, including leaders, influencers, and growers.

Supervise and direct seasonal staff or third‑party labor to achieve trial and business objectives.

Communicate across teams and leaders, remaining agile and engaged in continuous learning.

Partner with manager on a business and personal development goal plan aligned with Bayer’s Dynamic Shared Ownership values.

Travel up to 15% of the time, especially during peak seasons.

Be willing to work extended hours during peak seasons, including non‑traditional daytime hours and overnight travel.

Drive a company vehicle, possibly exceeding 5,000 business miles annually in a supplied pool vehicle.

Meet region‑specific driving licensing requirements under US DOT/FMCSA jurisdiction.

Physical Demands

Safe lifting of up to 50 lbs.

Extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking.

Working in high or low temperature field conditions.

Long hours, primarily during peak field season.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree.

Strong technical aptitude with connected systems and data management.

Demonstrated experience in a collaborative, team‑based environment.

Ability to learn and operate precision agriculture equipment and technology.

Knowledge of or willingness to learn region‑specific crop production practices.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

DOT medical card or ability to obtain one; compliance with FMCSA criteria.

Background check, drug test, and physical required for DOT regulations.

Ability to obtain a pesticide applicator license.

Ability to obtain a FAA Part 107 drone pilot license.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in agronomy, life sciences, engineering, computer science, or related field (Master’s degree a plus).

Experience in agricultural research, seed technology, or plant breeding.

Knowledge of basic statistical analysis and experimental design principles.

Mechanical and IT aptitude.

Experience with precision agriculture hardware and software.

History of implementing continuous improvements and innovation.

Additional Information Location: Harrisburg, South Dakota. Domestic relocation may be eligible. Posting available until January 17, 2026. Salary range: $58,498.40 – $87,747.60, plus potential bonus or commission. Other benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, and more.
