Summary The Department Administrator is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategic, clinical, and administrative direction of the Department(s) for which they support. This position is pivotal in advancing the department’s academic oncology mission, driving innovation in patient care, research, and education. The Administrator partners with physician leaders and Cancer Center executives to ensure operational excellence, academic growth, and integration across hospitals, clinics, and faculty affairs. This leader will directly oversee Managers, Supervisors, and Administrative Assistants, ensuring seamless operations and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
Shape and execute the department’s vision for academic excellence, clinical innovation, and research advancement. Lead strategic planning, program development, and cross-functional initiatives that align with institutional goals.
Academic & Research Advancement:
Champion the educational mission by supporting faculty development, academic programming, and research administration. Facilitate grand rounds, interdisciplinary conferences, and national organization participation. Ensure the balance of educational, research, and patient care priorities.
Operational Excellence:
Oversee daily operations for ambulatory, surgical, and inpatient services. Implement LEAN and process improvement strategies to optimize patient satisfaction, safety, and efficiency.
Practice Management:
Drive data-informed decision-making for clinical operations, faculty productivity, and new service line development. Ensure compliance with billing, documentation, and regulatory standards.
Fiscal Stewardship:
Lead strategic margin management, budget development, and financial oversight in partnership with MMG administration and Finance.
Talent Management:
Develop and implement innovative recruitment, retention, and workforce development strategies. Mentor and support faculty, APPs, and staff to achieve their highest potential.
Outreach:
Supports outreach and education efforts in collaboration with the Strategic Marketing team.
Institutional Integration:
Ensure alignment with Moffitt Cancer Center policies, procedures, and medical staff bylaws. Foster strong relationships across departments and with external academic partners.
Credentials and Qualifications:
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a clinic or physician practice setting required. Specific oncology practice management experience desired.
Completed Master’s degree in healthcare, MBA or related field of education required.
Experience in all aspects of departmental administration, strategic planning, forecasting, practice management, HR and IT required.
Demonstrated management and supervisory skills required.
Understanding of the Academic Medicine Model preferred.
Experience with formulating, revising, and implementing policies, procedures, and standards and working in multiple data systems and applications.
Demonstrated ability to plan and organize environment to provide optimal care to patients.
Ability to research, analyze, and conceptualize long-term strategic plans.
