This role requires the ability to float across hospital locations as needed, providing consistent leadership support wherever patient care needs are greatest. You will be a trusted resource for staff at all levels, a critical decision‑maker during rapidly evolving situations, and a representative for the organization during after‑hours operations.

What you’ll do

Coordinate safe and efficient patient flow by assessing level of care needs, collaborating with nursing, physicians, patient placement, and care management, and monitoring hospital‑wide capacity.

Lead daily and ad‑hoc operational huddles with executive leadership, charge nurses, and ancillary teams to review bed availability, prioritize admissions, and address safety or quality concerns.

Conduct focused rounding to assess unit activity, identify high‑risk situations, and intervene in patient care concerns, recent RRTs, or complex family/social issues.

Oversee hospital operations and staffing, allocating resources based on acuity, competency, and census, while supporting Charge Nurses with real‑time decisions.

Function as a rapid response team (RRT) RN, responding to RRTs, code blues, and traumas, providing ACLS‑level support, and assisting with critical event coordination.

Ensure EMTALA compliance, assist with transfer requests, and support interfacility transfers when frontline teams encounter barriers.

Serve as the after‑hours representative for key departments (HR, infection prevention, employee health, patient advocacy) to maintain safe hospital operations.

Resolve operational issues by securing equipment/supplies, troubleshooting workflow challenges, and escalating concerns to directors, AOC, or risk management when appropriate.

Coordinate post‑mortem care, including CMS/medical examiner reporting and organ/tissue donation processes, following hospital policy.

Represent Salem Health during after‑hours events, including interaction with media or external agencies in collaboration with the public information officer and leadership.
