Juvenile Intake and Assessment worker; 9th Judicial District
Position Title: Juvenile Intake and Assessment worker; 9th Judicial District.
Department: Community Corrections, McPherson and Harvey County Offices (one position in each county).
Position Summary:
The Juvenile Intake and Assessment (JIA) Worker is an on‑call position that processes youth at the law enforcement center for various criminal behaviors or for youth deemed a child in need of care. The role includes conducting intake by gathering information from the youth, law enforcement officers, and family members and accurately entering this data into a database. The worker also coordinates placement for the youth based on assessed needs and the recommendations of the county attorney.
Key responsibilities include:
Availability for 12‑hour shifts Monday through Friday and at least one weekend per month.
Payment for the on‑call shift whether the worker is required to report to the law enforcement center.
Responding to phone calls to report to the law enforcement office within 30 minutes of notification.
Working respectfully with all community partners, taking directions, and presenting concise information to the county attorney and community partners.
Accurately entering information into a database.
Working independently under the general supervision of the HMCCC Deputy Director while adhering to strict standards defined by legislation, agency policies and procedures, and the Kansas Department of Corrections/Juvenile Services.
Qualifications:
Adult felony conviction(s).
Juvenile felony conviction(s).
Confirmed and/or substantiated case of adult abuse or neglect.
Confirmed and/or substantiated case of juvenile abuse or neglect.
Background check required.
