Accounts Payable (AP) Specialist
to their team.
Salary/Hourly Rate $50/hr - $60/hr
Position Overview As the Accounts Payable (AP) Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting day‑to‑day accounting operations with a focus on full‑cycle accounts payable and general accounting. Working closely with the Controller and Finance team, you will help ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with GAAP in a nonprofit environment.
Responsibilities of the Accounts Payable (AP) Specialist
Manage full‑cycle Accounts Payable, including invoice processing, coding, approvals, and payment runs.
Support general accounting functions and assist the Controller with financial oversight.
Collaborate with internal departments and external vendors to resolve AP inquiries and discrepancies.
Maintain accurate AP records and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
Assist with month‑end close activities to Accounts Payable.
Contribute to workflow improvements, process documentation, and special accounting projects.
Provide support during audits and compliance reviews as needed.
Required Experience/Skills for the Accounts Payable (AP) Specialist
Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with a strong focus on Accounts Payable.
Prior experience in the nonprofit sector.
Strong knowledge of full‑cycle Accounts Payable and general accounting principles.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Accounts Payable (AP) Specialist
Experience with NetSuite or a similar ERP system (preferred, not required).
Experience supporting audits or accounting process improvements.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
