Classification Minimum Requirements:
Accountant I: A bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization
Accountant II: A bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of experience.
Accountant I Responsibilities
Accountant manages cash-based commitments for UF Research and the UF Research Foundation.
Tracks multi-year award programs for the full commitment lifecycle including project creation, funding transfers, extensions, expense reviews, and closures.
Generates expired project listings and reconciles commitment balances on a monthly basis.
Monitors and responds to incoming requests to the VPDSR shared inbox daily.
Accountant manages cash-based fund 211 including requests for new projects, extensions, modifications, and combination codes.
Works directly with staff across campus to maintain a clean data set for PI, Department, Center, and Dean Overhead projects.
Assists with annual F&A Return distribution cycle including compliance report expense audits.
Monitors and responds to incoming requests to the shared IDC inbox daily.
Accountant assists Accounting Manager and Finance Director with ad hoc projects as needed and other duties as assigned.
Accountant II Responsibilities
Accountant reviews Fund 211 expenses throughout the year based on the UF fiscal policy and the returned F&A use policy and prepares to distribute F&A returns to colleges, university project managers, departments, and centers. Provides reports and back-up information as requested in relation to F&A cost distributions.
Accountant monitors and responds to incoming requests to the shared IDC inbox and responds to requests for new projects, extensions, modifications, closures, and combination codes.
The Accountant manages UF Research cash-based projects, including Funds 211 and 213 projects, and closes them in a timely manner, making the funds available for other research purposes.
Accountant reconciles a few UF Research operating projects, including UF Accelerate accounts.
Accountant assists the Finance Director and the Ast Director with ad hoc projects as needed and other duties as assigned.
Expected Salary:
Commensurate with experience.
Required Qualifications:
Accountant I: A bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization
Accountant II: A bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Critical thinking demonstrated problem solving, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in PeopleSoft, Enterprise Analytics, Microsoft Office applications, and Adobe Acrobat software preferred.
Ability to prioritize work assignments, effectively manage multiple tasks and time, make responsible decisions, work independently, analyze problems and implement solutions.
Practices excellent customer service, self-motivated, and has a superior attention to detail.
Experience preparing or auditing expense reconciliations at UF.
Understanding of UF's purchasing, disbursement, and travel directives; internal controls at UF; and the F&A Cost Return & Use Policy.
