Position Summary The Full-Charge Bookkeeper is responsible for managing the complete accounting cycle for Avatar Natural Foods, including general ledger management, financial reporting, inventory accounting, and cost tracking for a multi-facility food manufacturing and distribution operation. This role requires a high level of accuracy, independence, and professionalism, ensuring that financial data reflects the company’s real operational performance and supports executive decision‑making. The Full‑Charge Bookkeeper reports directly to the CFO and works closely with operations, production, procurement, and sales teams.

Key Responsibilities 1. Complete Accounting Cycle Ownership

Manage all daily accounting functions, including AP, AR, payroll entries, banking activities, and credit card reconciliations.

Maintain the general ledger with accuracy and integrity, ensuring all entries are correctly classified and supported.

Prepare and issue customer invoices, credit memos, and statements; oversee collections where necessary.

Enter, verify, and process all vendor invoices and payments.

2. Month-End and Year-End Closings

Perform full month-end closing: bank reconciliations, loan reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, accruals, amortizations, and journal entries.

Prepare accurate month-end financial statements, including Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow Summary, and Variance Analysis.

Support year-end closings with tax accountants, auditors, and financial partners.

3. Inventory & Cost Accounting

Maintain accurate recording of inventory purchases, transfers, WIP, and finished goods across all facilities.

Collaborate with production and procurement to validate consumption, yield, shrink, and inventory valuation.

Perform periodic physical inventory reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.

Track COGS by product line and support costing updates as new formulas or SKUs are released.

Provide weekly and monthly financial dashboards for the CFO and leadership team.

Maintain cash flow projections, including forecasting incoming and outgoing payments.

Monitor spending trends, production costs, and margin performance across divisions.

Prepare specialized reports for retailers, lenders, and investors as needed.

5. Compliance, Controls & Documentation

Maintain organized, audit‑ready financial documentation consistent with federal, state, and food industry requirements.

Ensure proper documentation and accounting treatment for capital expenditures, equipment purchases, and facility improvements.

Uphold internal controls that safeguard assets and support Avatar Natural Foods’ efficiency‑driven operating model.

6. Systems & Process Improvement

Manage and optimize Odoo and supporting systems.

Recommend and implement improvements to accounting workflows, especially those involving production, freight, and logistics.

Create clear SOPs for accounting processes to support organizational scaling.

Qualifications Required

5+ years of full-charge bookkeeping or accounting experience.

Strong command of GAAP principles.

Expertise in Odoo and QuickBooks, and Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas).

Experience reconciling multi‑entity, multi‑location operations.

Experience with inventory‑heavy businesses.

High level of professionalism, accuracy, and accountability.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred

Background in food manufacturing, CPG, or distribution.

Experience in cost accounting, production costing, and freight allocation.
