The Annual Fund Manager plays a vital role in advancing the mission of the organization by leading and implementing strategies to grow individual giving as a member of the development team. This position manages all aspects of the annual fund, including direct mail, email appeals, donor stewardship, and database management. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, data-driven professional who thrives on building relationships, ensuring excellent donor experiences, and executing coordinated fundraising campaigns that inspire generosity and strengthen donor loyalty.
QUALIFICATIONS
•Bachelor’s Degree in non-profit management, human services, communications, marketing, business, public administration, or related field and at least two years of relevant work experience.
•Self-motivated, energetic, exceptional customer service, team player, thorough understanding of program needs and challenges.
•Demonstrate autonomy, organization, assertiveness, creativity, flexibility, and cooperation in performing job responsibilities.
•Ability to think strategically, translating strategy into tactics, and executing flawlessly.
•Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills and strong attention to detail.
•Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
•Able to assess, forecast and plan for future needs
•Proficiency with donor database systems (Network for Good, Raiser’s Edge, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
•Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
•Passion for the mission and commitment to advancing equity and community impact.
•Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
•Possesses a valid Virginia driver’s license, automobile insurance, and reliable transportation.
•Able to pass a required background check.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Individual Giving & Annual Fund Management
Develop, implement, and evaluate strategies to increase annual giving from individuals through direct mail, email, social media, and online campaigns.
Coordinate all aspects of annual fundraising appeals, including concept development, timelines, segmentation, copy review, and production.
Manage Giving Tuesday, year-end, and other seasonal giving initiatives.
Support donor cultivation and solicitation efforts in collaboration with leadership and program staff.
Analyze giving trends and identify opportunities to upgrade donors and improve retention.
Oversee all aspects of Family Lifeline Young Professionals programming, including member acquisition and retention.
Assist with grant writing as needed.
Donor Stewardship & Acknowledgment
Oversee timely and personalized donor thank-you letters, acknowledgments, and stewardship communications.
Develop and maintain a stewardship calendar to ensure consistent donor engagement throughout the year.
Partner with program staff to create meaningful content that demonstrates donor impact.
Database & Reporting
Manage the donor database (Raiser’s Edge, Network for Good or similar), ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality.
Generate and analyze reports to track fundraising performance, donor retention, and campaign results.
Analyze the effectiveness of the different fundraising efforts and report analysis to the Development Director; suggest changes/improvements as needed.
Lead processes for data entry, gift processing, and record keeping in coordination with finance and operations teams.
Mailings, Appeals, and Communications
Manage production timelines and vendor relationships for print and digital fundraising appeals.
Coordinate donor mailings, invitations, and newsletters to support cultivation and stewardship goals.
Collaborate with the leadership team to align fundraising messages with the organization’s brand and mission.
Implement multimedia communication efforts, public relations, and marketing to support organizational and development goals to include event promotion, marketing collateral, website content, social media, email, and direct marketing.
Works to ensure consistent voice and brand across all communication channels.
SALARY $50,000-$60,000/year
