Grand Contracting, LLC
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Project Accountant to support accounting operations across multiple entities and projects in the construction and real estate industry. This role is responsible for project-level accounting, intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and financial reporting, working closely with internal teams to ensure accurate, timely, and well-documented financial information.
Key Responsibilities Project & Operational Accounting
Maintain accurate accounting records for assigned projects and legal entities.
Track, review, and analyze project costs, invoices, and payments to ensure proper classification and timing.
Monitor project activity and identify variances, unusual transactions, or missing documentation.
Support month-end close activities related to project accounting.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
Review, code, and enter invoices into accounting systems.
Prepare and support check runs, ACH payments, and vendor communications.
Investigate and resolve outstanding accounts payable and accounts receivable items.
Assist with cash application and deposit tracking as needed.
Cash & Balance Sheet Reconciliations
Perform bank and cash reconciliations across multiple entities.
Investigate old outstanding checks and aged reconciling items.
Research and resolve balance sheet discrepancies related to projects, AR, and AP.
Assist with reconciling intercompany balances and clearing differences.
Intercompany & Related-Party Transactions
Prepare, review, and track intercompany and related-party invoices.
Ensure transactions are properly recorded and aligned on both sides of intercompany entries.
Maintain clear and well-organized supporting documentation and tracking schedules.
Reporting & Analysis
Prepare AR/AP aging reports and assist with balance tie-outs.
Support project-level financial reporting and internal management reporting.
Assist with audit support, data requests, and documentation as needed.
Systems & Tools
Sage 300 and/or Sage Intacct (preferred, or strong willingness and ability to learn)
Bill.com (preferred, or strong willingness and ability to learn)
Microsoft Excel (strong skills required; ability to work through large data sets and support accurate general ledger coding)
Shared drives and accounting documentation systems
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a project-based, construction, real estate, or multi-entity environment.
Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, AR/AP, and reconciliations.
Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to analyze high volumes of data and properly code transactions in the general ledger.
Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on open items.
Effective and transparent communicator, comfortable collaborating with team members and escalating issues appropriately.
High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, documentation, and process consistency.
Preferred Experience
Project accounting or job-cost accounting experience, or a strong willingness to learn in a project-based environment.
Exposure to multi-entity and intercompany accounting, or demonstrated ability to learn complex entity structures.
Experience with Sage 300, Sage Intacct, and/or Bill.com, or strong aptitude and willingness to learn these systems.
Experience supporting month-end close, reconciliations, and audit requests.
Background in a growing or evolving accounting department with changing priorities.
