Summary of Position
Niles Plant Services, LLC is looking to hire insulators with experience and people interested in the trade. As an insulator at NPS, safety will be your first job and your second will be insulation. For this trade, all employees may partake in a paid insulation apprenticeship program. We are looking for individuals with a strong commitment to completing work in a safe, efficient manner. A strong candidate for this position will have excellent leadership and team management skills, written and verbal communication, and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
Apply, remove, and repair insulation on industrial equipment, pipes, ductwork, or other mechanical systems such as heat exchangers, tanks, and vessels, to help control noise and maintain temperatures.
Cover, seal, or finish insulated surfaces or access holes with plastic covers, strips, sealants, tape, cement or asphalt mastic.
Determine the amounts and types of insulation needed, and methods of installation, based on factors such as location, surface shape, and equipment use.
Fit insulation around obstructions, and shape insulating materials and protective coverings as required.
Install sheet metal around insulated pipes with screws in order to protect the insulation from weather conditions or physical damage.
Measure and cut insulation for covering surfaces, using tape measures, handsaws, knives, and scissors.
Prepare surfaces for insulation application by brushing or spreading on adhesives, cement, or asphalt, or by attaching metal pins to surfaces.
Read blueprints and specifications to determine job requirements.
Select appropriate insulation such as fiberglass, or Styrofoam based on the heat retaining or excluding characteristics of the material.
Distribute insulating materials evenly into small spaces within floors, ceilings, or walls, using blowers and hose attachments or cement mortar.
Willingness to travel as needed.

Annual Great Lakes Safety Training
Two Company Retreats per Year
Insulation Trainings throughout the year
Weekly Safety Meetings
Required Qualifications
Ability to travel as needed (paid)
High School GED required
OSHA 10 and related certifications preferred
Previous insulation experience (Minimum 5 years of industrial insulation experience to lead a crew)
Ability to work independently and within teams
Strong organizational skills, time management, attention to detail, accuracy, and oral and written communication.
Able to lift 50 lbs.
Able to work at heights
Capable of being on your feet all day
