Diesel Mechanic - 2nd Shift

Pay Range $25.80/hr - $40.53/hr
This position is eligible for a sign‑on bonus. The range is a guideline and actual pay will be based on your skills and experience.
Position Summary With direct supervision from a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor, the Mechanic performs repair and maintenance work on diesel and non‑diesel equipment and trucks, including chassis components, vehicle refuse bodies, control systems, hydraulic electrical, air brake systems, general engine work, HVAC components, suspension, drive train and steering systems. The Mechanic may also perform basic tire work such as replacement, tire rotation and tread depth checks. This position is expected to be second shift (3:00 – 11:30 PM).
Essential Responsibilities
Chassis component repair and maintenance
Refuse bodies, including control, hydraulic and electrical systems; air and hydraulic braking systems
Engine repair and maintenance
Suspension, drivetrain and steering systems
Heating and air conditioning
Air brake repair and maintenance
Provide safe road service as needed to maintain equipment operation
Identify the source of malfunctions using electronic tools
Complete applicable company training programs
Maintain a clean and professional work area
Perform other job‑related duties as assigned
Ability to work 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
Education and Experience
Prior experience or knowledge of maintenance on Classes 1‑5 light/medium duty and heavy‑duty Class 7‑8 trucks, aircraft or ships
Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred
Diesel technical training preferred
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
Ability to work well as a team member and independently
Ability to work efficiently and maximize productivity
