Opportunity Overview Senior Power System Planning Engineer (E&C) on behalf of our client. This is a 1‑year contract assignment (W‑2). You will support engineering activities for renewable and transmission projects within the Engineering and Construction department, providing power system analysis, steady‑state and dynamic modeling, generation and transmission planning for all wind, solar, battery energy storage and stand‑alone transmission/substation projects.
You will need experience in power flow analysis, stability studies, voltage studies, technical analysis of disturbances, implementation of regulatory reliability standards, and coordination of reliability and economic studies with the Regional Transmission Operator. You will represent our client’s interest while working with ISO’s, utilities, municipalities and regulatory agencies to understand and meet the requirements for new interconnections. You will report to the onsite manager.
Your Day‑to‑Day
Provide technical expertise to all aspects of generation interconnection processes and operational requirements.
Work with ISOs, utilities and regulatory agencies to manage interconnection processes for the power generation facilities.
Create and validate PSSE, PSLF and PSCAD models for solar, wind and battery projects.
Perform steady‑state, dynamic, short‑circuit and other power system analyses for renewable facilities.
Monitor changing interconnection requirements from regional agencies and advise team members on the expected impacts.
Perform assessment for compliance with new IBR standards such as IEEE 2800, Grid‑Forming IBR and other similar requirements.
Ensure compliance with regional modeling requirements for all generation projects.
Develop software tools that enhance system reliability and organizational efficiency.
Contribute new designs or techniques that others within the industry regard as major advances in their area of expertise.
Ensure implementation of standards, policies, training, and support of the organization.
Prepare communications, presentations and conduct meetings.
Who You Are
Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Knowledge of interconnection procedures as defined by ISOs, utilities and TOs across the U.S.
Experience with power system analysis tools including PSS/E, PSCAD, Aspen, TSAT and GE PSLF software.
Experience with electrical engineering concepts such as power flow, stability, voltage regulation, and reactive support.
