Early Childhood Education Adjunct Faculty
Kean University in Union, New Jersey is seeking adjunct faculty to teach undergraduate Early Childhood Education courses in‑person at the Union campus. Qualified candidates may be contacted if an opening becomes available.
Overview We are a top producer of teachers in New Jersey and a growing educational hub in business, healthcare, and technology. Our six colleges offer more than 50 undergraduate degrees and a range of graduate programs.
Responsibilities Teach undergraduate courses in Child Development, Early Childhood Curriculum, DAP, Assessment, Family‑Teacher Partnerships, and Professionalism. Provide a Clinical Experience component that requires school visits. Maintain at least one hour of availability outside the classroom per week for each class taught (30 minutes additional for each additional class).
Qualifications A master’s degree in a related field is required. Teaching experience is preferred; candidates with ABD, Ed.D., Ph.D., or other acceptable doctorate are encouraged to apply. Knowledge of NAEYC Professional Standards and Competencies and New Jersey state standards is required. Proficiency in a Learning Management System is required.
Availability Adjunct faculty teaching one to four credit classes shall provide at least one hour of availability outside the classroom per week. Adjuncts teaching fewer than three credits shall provide at least thirty minutes of availability outside the classroom per week.
Compensation Effective September 2024: $1,975 per credit. Effective September 2025: $2,100 per credit. Effective September 2026: $2,225 per credit. Beginning in the 13th semester taught, Adjuncts receive an additional $75 per credit.
