Maintenance Mechanic

Salary Starting : $25 - $35.97

Job Summary As a

Maintenance Mechanic

at the North Dakota State Hospital campus, you will troubleshoot, conduct preventive maintenance, and resolve equipment issues. Key responsibilities include performing scheduled maintenance tasks such as inspections, repairs, cleaning, lubrication, filter replacements, and testing to ensure equipment functionality. Your duties extend to maintaining and repairing various equipment across the campus, including rooftop, and building HVAC units, air compressors, air dryers, condensate tanks, pumps, food carts, and electric tug cars.

Additional Responsibilities

Manage inventory, order equipment, and maintain detailed records of work activities and materials in the work order management system.

Collaborate with the Plant Services team in the heating plant and assist the grounds department in both routine and special projects as required.

Participate in an on‑call rotation with other team members to address emergent and after‑hours maintenance issues promptly.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Two (2) years of experience in one or more of the trades areas in which duties will be performed or in related work that clearly shows a general knowledge of tasks that will be performed and reflect skills needed to work in a variety of trades areas.

Preference will be given to applicants with a trade school degree. Vocational or technical education in a field comparable to the position's primary responsibility may substitute for up to one year of the work experience requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Location This position is required to work onsite at the State Hospital in Jamestown, North Dakota.
