Summary of Work North Dakota State Hospital (NDSH) - Jamestown, ND - Administrative Assistant We're looking for an Administrative Assistant for our medical records department who brings strong organization, attention to detail, and a proactive mindset to the table. As our Administrative Assistant, you will be part of a team where communication and computer skills matter, and where your experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) will be put to good use. Your day-to-day work will focus on maintaining and updating client records, processing disclosures through EHR systems, and ensuring everything is done in line with privacy regulations like Federal Rule 42 CFR Part 2 and HIPAA. Medical coding experience is preferred, as it enhances the ability to accurately interpret and document healthcare services. You'll also be responsible for converting paper client charts into electronic records, performing chart audits, and making sure records are managed according to the appropriate retention schedule. That means knowing when files are ready for destruction and ensuring our documentation meets accreditation and licensing standards. To thrive in this position, being able to multitask while staying focused on accuracy is essential. You will need to be able to stay on top of deadlines, adapt to shifting priorities, and keep a clear view of the big picture while handling the details. To be considered for this position you must have one of the following combinations: Associate's degree in business or office related functions AND one (1) year of office support, clerical or secretarial professional work experience. OR A high school diploma or equivalent AND two (2) years of office support, clerical or secretarial professional work experience. Course work in a vocational office support or closely related program may substitute for work experience requirement on a year for year basis, if it provided the knowledge and skills required to perform the duties of the position.
