PLC Controls Specialist Technician

We are seeking a skilled and motivated PLC Controls Specialist Technician to join our team at a leading snack food manufacturing facility. This role is focused on IT/OT integration, PLC programming, and diagnostics, while supporting advanced automation and data integration across our production environment.
What can you expect on the job?
Develop, write, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC code, with a focus on Allen‑Bradley ControlLogix and CompactLogix platforms.
Support IT/OT integration across factory systems and devices.
Design and establish MES data hierarchies to improve production visibility and reporting.
Implement and manage SQL Historian databases, including tag creation and integration.
Configure and troubleshoot Safety PLCs and safety devices such as light curtains and motion sensors.
Set up parameters and troubleshoot instruments including VFDs, Sick Scanners, Flo‑Wrappers, Ishida Scales, Bag Makers, Mettler Scales, X‑rays, and Markem‑Imaje printers.
Integrate automation systems into HMI/OIT factory floor devices such as Wonderware, AB PanelView, and Ignition.
Perform diagnostics using multimeters, print reading, and electrical schematics.
Collaborate with engineering, IT, and operations teams to ensure seamless automation integration and reliable plant operations.
Maintain thorough documentation of code changes, system configurations, and project designs.
What will make you successful in the role?
Minimum of 5 years of hands‑on experience in PLC controls, automation, or a related field.
Technical education in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Industrial Technology, or a related discipline strongly preferred.
Proficiency with Allen‑Bradley ControlLogix and CompactLogix systems.
Knowledge of Safety PLCs and integration of safety devices (light curtains, motion sensors, etc.).
Experience with MES hierarchy design and SQL Historian databases.
What should you bring?
Strong background in instrument setup and troubleshooting (VFDs, scales, printers, and packaging machinery).
Skilled in HMI/OIT integration with Wonderware, AB PanelView, or Ignition systems.
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret electrical prints and schematics.
Proficiency in diagnostic tool usage, including multimeters.
Excellent problem‑solving skills with a collaborative and solutions‑oriented approach.
What will your schedule look like?
Must be able to work a flexible schedule when necessary, in East Moriches, Shirley, and Southampton.
