Purpose
The Journeyman / Electrician is responsible for assisting in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment. This individual serves as an apprentice and works under the supervision of a master electrician or foreman. The Journeyman / Electrician plays a vital role in ensuring smooth operations and compliance with electrical codes and regulations.
Description The Journeyman / Electrician is expected to perform various operational tasks related to the trade. This includes working with tools, machinery, and materials, and following established safety protocols while maintaining a deep understanding of applicable regulations, industry standards, and best practices.
Duties & Responsibilities
Operational Execution: Perform tasks related to installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, following safety protocols.
Technical Knowledge: Provide technical guidance and support, using extensive knowledge of electrical codes and industry standards.
Quality Control: Inspect and test materials, components, and finished products to ensure compliance with industry standards.
Communication and Collaboration: Effectively communicate with team members, supervisors, and clients; ask questions when necessary and work independently or as part of a team.
Time Management: Demonstrate strong time management skills, meeting deadlines and prioritizing tasks efficiently.
Continuous Learning: Pursue learning opportunities such as training, workshops, and industry conferences to expand skills and knowledge.
Requirements Qualifications / Licenses & Work Experience
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required; additional trade-specific certifications are preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of hands‑on experience in electrical work, including exposure to a variety of tasks.
Skills and Abilities: Strong technical skills, attention to detail, problem‑solving abilities, understanding of safety protocols, and physical fitness for demanding tasks.
Certifications: Required or preferred certifications specific to the trade; must obtain and maintain necessary credentials.
Career Path: Opportunities for advancement to higher-level positions such as foreman, supervisor, or project manager, and further education or training are available.
