Job Summary
The CNC Machinist produces machined parts by setting up and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine, maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records, and maintaining equipment and supplies.
Essential Functions
Understand work orders, blueprints, manufacturing orders, and machining parameters
Validate material used
Maintain specifications; troubleshoot, detect malfunctions, and take appropriate actions; know when to replace worn tools
Listen to machining operation to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and compensate for problems
Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments, templates, fixtures, and knowledge of GDT standards
Maintain continuity among shifts by documenting and communicating actions taken and any necessary further steps
Any other task assigned by supervisor or management
Non‑Essential Functions
Maintain conscientious work behaviors including work ethic, safety standards, quality, costs, and On‑Time Delivery (OTD)
Minimum Qualifications
Experience: 2+ years machining with CNC lathes, preferably single and double spindle
Knowledge: Various inspection equipment (micrometers, calipers, height gauges); safety procedures and regulations; GDT; cutting tool geometry; tooling and coordination
Skills/Abilities: Work quickly and efficiently through Process Improvement structure; strong verbal and written communication; strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping
Education/Certification: High School Diploma or equivalent
Eligibility: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Only U.S. Persons will be considered. As a U.S. Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by ITAR.

Understanding of basic Math, Geometry and Trigonometry

Normal manufacturing environment
Must use safety equipment: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps, and any other required PPE
May be exposed to loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes
Flexible and willing to work overtime if necessary
Standing: 100%

Lifting (pounds): up to 30
Pushing (pounds): up to 50
Mental/Visual: use of microscope, computer and blueprints
Workspace: clean bench, measuring table
