Role Description
AIT is seeking a full‑time API 653 Inspector to join our team on‑site in the Greater Houston area. The role involves performing inspections of aboveground storage tanks in compliance with API 653 standards, documenting findings and deficiencies, and generating detailed inspection reports. You will also coordinate with clients to ensure that inspection results are understood and that recommendations for repair or preventative actions are executed in a timely manner. Adherence to safety regulations and quality standards is essential in this role.
Qualifications
Strong understanding and certification in API 653 standards and regulatory compliance for tank inspections
Experience with inspection methodologies such as Magnetic Flux Exclusion (MFE) and settlement surveys
Knowledge of non‑destructive testing methods, including Ultrasonic Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, and Liquid Penetrant Testing
Excellent communication skills for report writing and explaining inspection findings to clients
Ability to work on‑site and adapt to diverse environments and client requirements
Physical ability to work in confined spaces and at heights, with a strong focus on safety practices
Additional API certifications (e.g., API 510, API 570) and experience with advanced inspection equipment are a plus
High school diploma or equivalent
