The Talent Acquisition & Onboarding Specialist is responsible for leading the recruitment and onboarding functions at Friends Homes. This role manages full-cycle hiring, facilitates all aspects of orientation, ensures compliance with employment regulations, and actively contributes to shaping the organization’s culture and workforce strategy. The position also focuses heavily on creative outreach and building strong candidate pipelines through both tradition and nontraditional methods.

Key Responsibilities

Full-Cycle Recruitment

Manages the entire recruitment process including sourcing, screening, interviewing, selection and offer facilitation.

Partners with hiring managers to understand staffing needs, supports job requisition creation and consults on best hiring practices.

Posts and manages job listings across multiple platforms and maintains a consistent, compelling employer presence online.

Attends job fairs and career events to promote Friends Homes and builds relationships with potential candidates and community partners.

Hosts onsite hiring events and promotes internal referral program.

Proactively researches and explores out of the box sourcing strategies through social media platforms and local partnerships.

Trains new hiring managers on the Applicant Tracking System and recruiting workflow.

Coordinates and leads new hire orientation sessions on a bi‑weekly or as needed basis.

Manages orientation logistics including setup, food and snacks, scheduling, room preparation and clean up.

Conducts campus tours and serve as the go‑to resource for new hires with questions related to payroll, benefits, culture and policies.

Collects and tracks all onboarding documents, including identification, medical forms, licensure/certification verifications, and compliance requirements.

Support the HR Generalist with back‑end onboarding document tracking and HRIS data entry.

Compliance & Process Improvement

Ensures all recruitment and onboarding practices align with state and federal regulations as well as internal policies.

Creates and implements recruitment and onboarding policies and process improvements in collaboration with the HR Team.

Tracks and reports on hiring metrics such as time‑to‑fill, background check completion, drug screening, TB clearance and onboarding progress.

Culture, Brand and Engagement

Promotes internal programs such as employee referrals and contribute to culture building and engagement efforts.

Ensures all candidate and new hire touchpoints reflect the mission, values and welcoming spirit of Friends Homes.

HR Department Support

Assist with HR projects and seasonal tasks, including open enrollment and training initiatives.

Participate in departmental planning meetings, audits and compliance reviews.

Contribute to cross‑functional efforts that support employee experience, retention and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field

3+ years of HR experience, preferably in healthcare or senior living

Strong knowledge of Talent Acquisition, hiring practices, employment laws

Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills

Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite

HR certification (PHR, SHRM‑CP) preferred
