ASC Billing Manager – Jax Spine and Pain Centers
The ASC (Ambulatory Surgery Center) Billing Manager will be responsible for managing the full revenue cycle operations for an ambulatory surgery center, ensuring accurate billing, coding, collections, compliance, and reimbursement from payers. This role combines financial oversight, regulatory compliance, and team leadership to safeguard the center’s financial performance.
Core Responsibilities Revenue Cycle Management
Oversee end-to-end billing processes: charge entry, coding, claim submission, payment posting, denials, appeals, and collections.
Ensure accurate CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding for surgical procedures and anesthesia.
Monitor AR aging and maintain key performance metrics (DSO, clean claim rate, denial rate).
Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
Ensure billing practices comply with CMS, HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid, and payer‑specific guidelines.
Maintain knowledge of ASC reimbursement rules, fee schedules, and billing modifiers.
Prepare and respond to payer audits.
Team Leadership
Supervise and assign workloads, monitor productivity, and handle performance evaluations.
Ensure that staff are trained accordingly.
Payer Relations & Contracting Support
Collaborate with payers to resolve claim disputes or update reimbursement rates.
Support contract negotiations by providing reimbursement trends and financial data.
Reporting & Financial Analysis
Provide regular revenue reports, payer mix analyses, denial trends, and cash‑flow projections.
Work with the Director of Revenue Cycle Management to support budgeting and financial planning.
Patient Communication
Oversee patient billing statements, handle escalated billing‑related inquiries.
Ensure compliance with balance billing and financial hardship policies.
Key Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience in ASC billing or surgical billing required.
Minimum five years of experience in a Central Billing Office (CBO)/medical office setting, highly preferred (e.g., ambulatory surgery center, hospital, doctor’s office).
Management/supervisory experience necessary.
Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD‑10, HCPCS, and modifier use.
Familiarity with Medicare’s ASC Payment System (APC), OPPS.
Excellent understanding of revenue cycle KPIs and ASC‑specific regulations.
Leadership, training, and team development experience.
